Kendra Taylor Reed

Reed

Ms. Kendra Taylor Reed, age 22, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Atmore, Ala. and was a life-long resident of Uriah, Ala. She attended the J.U. Blacksher High School. Had been employed as a CNA and was employed with Wind Creek Casino as an usher. She was a 1st Generation Poarch Band of Creek Indian and was of the Baptist faith.
Ms. Reed is survived by her father, Kendall Reed (Priscilla Caraway) of Uriah; mother, Brande M. Reed (Tommy Rolin) of Atmore; one son, Korbin Ramer of Atmore; one daughter, Kentleigh Phillips of Atmore; one brother, Christian Brooks of Frisco City, Ala.; one sister, Destiny Reed of Frisco City, Ala.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Friendly Holiness Church with Bro. Ray Ward and Bro. Dale Aplin officiating. Burial followed at New Home Cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. at Friendly Holiness Church.
Pallbearers were Michael Smith, Michael Hipa, Dalton Phillips, Dylon Rolin, Waylon Tucker and Christian Brooks.

Harold Philip “Phil” Wilson

Mr. Harold Philip “Phil” Wilson, age 67, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 in Atmore. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to the late Dr. Harold Q. Wilson and Shirley Jean Wheat Wilson. He was a graduate of Auburn University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry. He was retired from the Alabama Forestry Commission where he worked as a forester for over twenty-five years. He then worked for the Mississippi Forestry Commission before he retired and over his career, he planted over one billion seedlings in the State of Alabama. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Sandra Ziglar Wilson of Atmore; two daughters, Aime Elizabeth Wilson and Kelsey Alyse Wilson, both of Atmore; two step-children, Chad (Chandra) McMurphy of Atmore and Sandi McMurphy (Shayne) Dickman of Bay Minette, Ala;. three brothers, Greg Wilson of Bratt, Fla., Jon Wilson of Lillian, Ala. and Patrick Wilson of Silver Hill, Ala.; one sister, Lori Monroe of Silver Hill and his grandchildren, Aidan Philip Wilson, Avery Quinn Wilson, Caspian Jasper Wilson, Ava Wilson and Collyns Wilson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Guy Heath officiating. Burial followed in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Jon Wilson, Pat Wilson, Aiden Wilson, Avery Wilson, Chad McMurphy, Autry Ziglar, Clark Ziglar, Richard Monroe and Matthew Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers were Jarrod Walker, David Ziglar and Shayne Dickman.

Dorothy Ann Albritton

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Albritton, age 85, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020. She was born in Repton, Ala. to the late Louis and Exa Mae Pullen. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and mother as well as a dear friend to many.  The Lord gifted her with numerous talents employing them in a variety of ways most of which in service to others.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Louis Marvin Pullen and Thomas Albert Pullen, both of Brewton. 

Mrs. Albritton  is survived by her husband, Charles Edward Albritton; children, Sherry A. Windham (Ron) of Elba, Ala. and Randy Albritton (Lynn) of Culpeper, Va.; two sisters and one brother, Ruth Reed (Kenneth) of Atmore, Marvette Godwin (Roy) of Oak Grove, Fla., James Pullen of Atmore; grandchildren; Ashley, Alanna, Jonathan, Zachary, Miles and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 8, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Albritton officiating. Burial followed in Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jonathan Windham, Zachary Albritton, Miles Albritton, Ryan Godwin and Sam Delarosa.

Mary Ann Williams

Mrs. Mary Ann Williams, age 63, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at her home in Chrysler, Ala. She was born in Atmore, Ala., raised in Bay Springs, Al., spent most of her life in Huxford, Ala. and had resided in Chrysler for the past thirteen years. She was a homemaker and was all about her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Inez Weekley; sister, Ruby Hamric and her husband of thirty-six years, Clifford F. “Buck” Williams.

Mrs. Williams is survived by one son, James Williams (Hannah Bowen) of Chrysler; two daughters, Rose Mary (Ronnie) Merchant and Terri Williams, all of Jay, Fla; mother of her grandchildren, Crystal Williams of Atmore; four grandchildren, Coty (Kirsten) Merchant, Kayla (Tyler) Cofield, Austin Williams and Bailey Williams; two great-grandchildren, Carsyn Lane Merchant and Aiden Jon Cofield; niece, Lynn Day of Stapleton, Ala.; other family and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 5, 2020 at 6 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

John Clark Perkins

Mr. John Clark Perkins, age 85, passed away Friday, June 5, 2020 at his home in Atmore, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Atmore. He retired from Monsanto, was a used car dealer and owned B&J Bait Shop. He was very loving and giving to his family and under privileged in our area. He never met a stranger, enjoyed singing, and was a jokester. He was a member of the Canoe (Methodist) Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Marie Perkins; parents, John and Rosie Perkins; grandson, Thomas Guy Byrne IV; step-father, Shirley Hammac and son-in-law, Thomas Guy Byrne III.

Mr. Perkins is survived by one son, John Terrell (Melba Jean) Perkins of Northport, Ala.; two daughters, Joanne Perkins (Larry M.) Bonds of Atmore and Janice Perkins Byrne of Stockton, Ala.; two step-sons, Lane (Vernie) Mosley of Henderson, Tenn. and Brady Mosley of Century, Fla.; four step-daughters, Rose Anna (Ray) Smith of Camden, S.C., Enola (Dan) Godwin and Myra (Joe) Reid, all of Byrneville, Fla., Amy (Lanell) Welch of Flomaton, Ala.; ten grandchildren, Tina (Wes) Walby, Tiffany (Steven) Cierocke, Tierney (Jason) Broadwater, Christopher (Mary) Byrne, Nikki (Terry) Lile, Katherine Byrne, Lori (Wesley) Rider, Larry W. (Sherri) Bonds, Stevie (Dixie) Bonds and Josh Bonds; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 8, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Armstrong and Rev. Larry Renfroe officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday, June 7, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Gage Mueller, Myrrick Walby, Chris Byrne, Nikki Lile, Tiffany Cierocke, Wesley Rider, Larry Wayne Bonds, B.J. Reid and Randal Bonds.

Joe Henry McLendon, Jr.

Mr. Joe Henry McLendon, Jr., age 69, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at his home in Bay Minette, Ala. He was a native of Baton Rouge, La., former resident of Mobile, Ala. and had resided in Bay Minette for the past thirty-seven years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was of the Church of God faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Henry McLendon, Sr.; mother, Edna Mae Wilson and brother, Herbert Wilson.

Mr. McLendon is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Dianna M. McLendon of Bay Minette; two sons, Joe H. (Veronica) McLendon, III and Matthew (Amanda) McLendon, all of Bay Minette; two daughters, Lydia Hobbs of Barton, Miss. and Rebecca Downey of Foley, Ala.; three brothers, Thomas Wayne Hancock of Elberta, Ala., Thomas Wayne Wilson of Bay Minette and Curtis Sykes of Hampton, Va.; five sisters, Joanne (Dan) Kincaid of Mobile, Ala., Rose McLamb of New Orleans, La., Theresa Wilson of Purvis, Miss., Cathy (Marty) Bateman and Linda Sykes, all of Hampton and several grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at noon at the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God with Bro. Randall Short officiating.

The family received friends Monday, June 8, 2020 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God.

Ledell Johnson, Sr.

Mr. Ledell Johnson, Sr., age 80, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Andrew and Lela Johnson. He attended Pleasant Hill School in Atmore. He was a faithful member and deacon at Emmanuel’s Faith Center under the leadership of his eldest son, Pastor Wayne Johnson. He was employed with Brown & Root for many years along with other traveling construction companies. He started his own company with his sons, Ledell Johnson & Sons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Warnell Johnson, Narvie Johnson, Andrew Johnson and Alvin Gray; four sisters, Annie Melvin Lee, Willie Neal Lee, Margaret Lyons and Eunice Bolling; two grandchildren, Jacorey Johnson and Shardae Arnold.

Mr. Johnson is survived by wife, Gloria Johnson; six children, Wayne (Rhonda) Johnson, Lafawn Johnson, Ledell (Bridget) Johnson Jr., Kenneth 9melissa) Johnson, all of Atmore and Charles (Patricia) Johnson of McCullough, Ala; one daughter, Juanita (Darrell) Griggs of Atmore; three step-daughters, Danita Burks, Rosaline (Bryant) Skanes and Laqunda (Duaran) Bridges; two brothers, Walter (Johnnie Mae) Johnson of Rock Island, Ill. and Wayne (Sandra) Gray of Atmore; three sisters, Lillian Charles of Chicago, Ill., Delois Cardwell and Rita Gray, both of Pensacola, Fla; host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; very special friend and barber, Theodore White.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel’s Faith Center with Bishop Wayne Johnson, Pastor and Eulogist and Apostle Tony McAroy, Presider. Interment followed in Stallworth Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his grandsons: Wayne Johnson, Kendrick Young, Derrick Lawson, Sedrick Lawson, TaCorey Johnson, Reginald Johnson, Ledell Johnson III and Arvin Griggs.

Flower bearers were his granddaughters, Keneshia Richardson, Tania Martin, Temekia Young, and Mieshia Staples.

John Lee

Mr. John Lee, native of Atmore, Ala., and resident of Clearwater, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by Christian Memorial Funeral Home.

George Montgomery

Montgomery

Mr. George Montgomery, age 85, passed away Friday, June 5, 2020 at Atmore Community Hospital. He was a native of Alabama and a resident of Atmore, Ala.  He worked many years at Scott Paper Co.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Bullard Montgomery and a son.

Mr. Montgomery is survived by two daughters, Patricia Mason and Nicole Walker; three sons, Robert Montgomery, Curtis Montgomery, and Gary Montgomery; two sisters, Mable Knight and Bessie Mahoney.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Donzell Young, Sr. officiating.
