Food giveaway

Cars began lining up outside Rachel Patterson Elementary School around 6:30 a.m. last Saturday, May 30, as drivers waited to receive boxes of free groceries. Estimates are that more than 600 cars pulled through the school driveway for a share of the 17,000 pounds of food distributed through a donation to Feeding the Gulf Coast. The line of cars stretched to the Assembly of God Church on South Trammell Street at one point. Several individuals, as well as members of several local churches, the Kappa League, Women With a Vision and Women of Distinction, took part in the project.
