A juvenile – reportedly a 13-year-old boy – was taken into custody December 5 by Escambia County deputies who responded to a report of a burglary in progress just outside the Poarch community.
According to sheriff’s reports, deputies were sent to an address on Atmosphere Road, where the homeowner had reportedly returned home and had been told by a neighbor that someone had crawled out the window of the home just moments earlier. The man went through the house and was unable to locate anyone but did find a window that was open.
Deputies arrived and began to search the area for the possible suspect or suspects who had burglarized the residence. A juvenile was found in the vicinity of the residence and was taken into custody after lawmen determined that he was the person who made illegal entry into the residence.
The adolescent suspect was charged with burglary and turned over to juvenile authorities. Alabama law prohibits the publication of a juvenile’s name or mug shot unless the juvenile is charged as an adult.
