Bond revoked for mother accused of sex trafficking
Melissa Deann Stoker, the 37-year-old Atmore woman arrested in July and accused of doing nothing to stop her mother-in-law from prostituting Stoker’s teenage daughter, went back behind bars just 10 days after she finally made bond. Stoker was released from the Escambia County Detention Center on November 20 when a $100,000 bond was posted on her behalf. Poarch parade postponed
The Poarch Creek Indians Christmas parade, set to begin at 5:30 p.m. today (Friday) has been postponed due to the high probability of icy precipitation during the scheduled event. The parade has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19. It will begin at Poarch Creek Gymnasium on Lynn McGhee Drive and wind its way to Lavan Martin Assisted Living Facility on Buford Rolin Drive.
Winter Weather Advisory issued for Escambia Co., Atmore
Escambia Academy Emergency Management Agency Director David Adams issued the following advisory Friday afternoon, December 8: A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for areas of southwest Alabama, including Escambia County. The potential for minor accumulations (of snow and/or ice) east of I-65 is increasing.
