Working around the 4th
Monday holidays sometimes pose a problem for us, with our print deadline being on Tuesday. However, July 4th presents a real challenge. Alabama’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday will, for the first time in its 12-year existence, be observed in July instead of August. The three-day tax moratorium will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 21, and continue until, midnight Sunday, July 23. New county tax goes into effect Saturday
Shoppers across Escambia County will begin paying an extra penny on their purchases when the county’s new sales tax goes into effect on Saturday, July 1. Officials of the cash-strapped county are projecting that the new levy will bring in “around $2.7 million” a year in new revenue.
