District Court Judge Eric Coale has granted a bond to 19-year-old Lemareyoun Moore of Atmore, but the chances of Moore leaving jail anytime soon are remote.
Coale set bond at $1 million for Moore, one of six individuals arrested in connection to the May 7 shooting into a vehicle that was approaching the junction of North Main and Howard streets.
Moore was reportedly out on bond for murder when the local shooting took place.
For his release on a bond of the current amount, an individual owning property with a tax value of at least $1 million would have to pledge his or her property as a guarantee that Moore will show up for trial. A 10 percent cash payment ($100,000) to a bonding agent or company would also grease the wheels of his release.
According to information provided by Circuit Clerk John R. Fountain’s office, Coale granted the bond on June 9. Moore’s mugshot remained on the Escambia County Detention Center website at mid-morning Tuesday, indicating that nobody has yet stepped forward on his behalf.
The 19-year-old shooting suspect is charged with one count each of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and discharging a firearm into an unoccupied building. (At least one of the bullets hit a nearby fast-food restaurant that was closed at the time.)
The six suspects, including three 17-year-old juveniles who are being charged as adults, were reportedly on the property of Backyard Barns, about 30 feet from the junction, when they unleashed a fierce volley from weapons of two different calibers that left 47 shell casings on the ground.
Despite the hail of bullets, no one in the car was injured.
APD investigators were eventually able to identify all six shooters, and each of them are currently behind bars.
Moore is one of three suspected assailants who are legally adults. The others, both also from Atmore, are 21-year-old Ryeheem Banks and Dexter Adams, 18. They face the same charges as Moore, and both remained behind bars early Tuesday, June 24.
Two of the 17-year-old suspects have also been charged with shooting into an East School Street residence on April 26. Each of the three, who are reportedly still in the custody of juvenile authorities, has been charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied building in that incident.
