Patricia “Patsy” Luverne Amon 

Amon

Mrs. Patricia “Patsy” Luverne Amon, age 81, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024. She was born in Davisville, Fla. to Robert Luverne Smith and Maggie Pearl Comalander Smith. She was a big Elvis fan and loved fishing in her early years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Amon of Ga.; two daughters, Patricia Bryars Vaughn of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Rita Bryars of Panama City, Fla.; one great-granddaughter, Kyla Charles and her four sisters, Betty House, Linda Greer, Sherry Powell and Lanette Smith.

Mrs. Amon is survived by three daughters, Jackie (Danny) Gregg of Panama City, Fl., Becky Angeles of Walnut Hill and Cathy Bryars of Repton, Ala.; one son, Henery (Bill) Pugh of TX; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Glenda Morgan of Byrneville, Fla. and Peggy Johnson of Ga.; four brothers, Ronald Smith (Wanda) of Fla., Roy Smith (Linda), Roger Smith (Maybelline) and Ray Smith (Mena), all of TX.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lewis Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, Fla.

Active pallbearers will be Byron Vaughn, Kevin Vaughn, Derek Parker, Derek Angeles, Daniel Gregg, David Gregg and Ryan Gregg.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore.

Larry Jarman

Mr. Larry Jarman, age 63, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in Jay, Fla. He was born in Pensacola, Fla., was a longtime resident of Cantonment, Fla, He was a faithful member of New Life Fellowship Church. He was an avid guitarist, enjoyed playing Gospel music at area churches. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching westerns, he was also a Florida State fan. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren who had his heart. He was employed by the Escambia County Road Department for the past 13 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Frank (Ruby Faye Little) Jarman; sister, Nell Moss; brother, Wayne Jarman; son, Wyndall Black.

Mr. Jarman is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Cara Jarman of McDavid, Fla.; two daughters, Dawn (Matt) Carter of Byrneville, Fla., Ariel (Rickey) Foster of Virginia Beach, Va.; brother, Tommy Jarman of Pensacola, Fla.; four sisters, Sheila Hill of Pensacola, Fla, Judy (Mike) Gunn and Alice (Lomax) Gunn, all of Cantonment, Fla, and Cindy Jarman of New York; four grandchildren, Emily, Jayden, Evelyn and Emilia.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Levon Caraway officiating. Burial will follow at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 13, 2024 from Noon until service time at 1p.m. at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Shirley Ann Riggs 

Mrs. Shirley Ann Riggs, age 82, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Bratt, Fla. to Robert (Sybil Gibbs) Godwin and has resided most of her life in Atmore. She was a member of Bratt Assembly of God Church.

She enjoyed attending church, playing the piano and singing in the choir. She loved spending time with her family, raising her grandchildren and vacationing in the mountains. Cooking for her family and friends was something she enjoyed. In her past-time she enjoyed planting flowers, watching a good western, and reading the bible and some good books. In her early years in life, she enjoyed bowling and playing softball.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Larry Godwin and Robert Earl Godwin.

Mrs. Riggs is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Jim Riggs of Atmore; two sons, Roger Riggs of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Mark (Kim) Riggs of Atmore; four grandchildren, Alex Reid, Shane Riggs, Chandi Riggs, Tyler Riggs; ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Mel Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Shane Riggs, Tyler Riggs, Cory Riggs, Jarrod Dawson, Dax Riggs, Chase Reid and Scott Warren.

Alvin Cunningham

Mr. Alvin Cunningham passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 at his home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Chapel, Evergreen. Ala.

Jane A. Kyles

Ms. Jane A. Kyles, age 83, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Atmore Nursing Facility. She was born in Franklin, Ala. to Adams Kyles, Sr. and Nancy gallery Kyles. She was employed with Helen Curtis of Chicago, Ill. for forty-five years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and fifteen siblings.

Ms. Kyles is survived by her children, Johnny Kyles of Atmore, Joann (Kenny) Condrey) Turner of Flomaton, Ala. and Nancy Mae (Dewayne) Keys of Miss.; one sister, Mary Alice Peavy of Atmore one brother, Leroy Kyles of Chicago, Ill.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Minister Jimmy Kyles officiating.
