Ronald Gordon Weinmann              

Weinmann

Mr. Ronald Gordon Weinmann, age 83, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, November 28, 2022 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Akron, Ohio to Gordon Henry and Gertrude Lee Quarles Weinmann.  He was a retired United States Navy Chief Petty Officer. During his service to his country, he was a naval aviator serving as a navigator. He also served on the USS Yorktown during Vietnam. Later, he retired from the United States Postal Service in Pensacola. He also was a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Mr. Weinmann is survived by his children, Scott (Karen) Weinmann of Charleston, S.C., Brandon Weinmann of Pensacola, Ronnel (Eddie) McKinley of Atmore, Crystal (Joey) Carroll of Medina, Tenn. and Joely (Jim) Mitchell of Milton, Fla.; his sisters, Sandra Ranew of Leesburg, Ga. and Karen (Steve) Romofsky of Santa Barbara, Calif.; thirteen grandchildren, Jordan, twins, Zac and Seth, Shelby, Tucker, twins, Hunter and Fisher, Savannah, Brad, Makayla, Sarah, Sydnee and Aaren; two nieces, Robin and Rebecca and three nephews, Ryan, Brian and Jonathan. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with his son, Rev. Scott Weinmann and Bro. Don Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors. 

The family will receive friends Friday, December 2, 2022 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home. 

Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Zac, Seth, Brad, Hunter, Fisher and his son-in law, Eddie McKinley. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Atmore First Assembly Royal Rangers.

Kathy Adams

Mrs. Kathy Adams, age 78, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Brownwood, Texas and resided in Hope Hull, Ala. She had resided in Atmore for the past 20 years. She owned and operated her Daycare business for many years. She was a member of Little Rock Church. She was a very devoted caretaker of her parents. She loved Christmas time and children. She enjoyed taking care of her animals and spending time in her vegetable garden. She was an avid Alabama football fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis (Doris Reid) Zangas, Jr.; her husband, Wendell Adams and one sister, Brenda Starks.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Michael) Gantt of Titus, Ala.; one brother, Larry (Faye) Zangas of Flomaton, Ala.; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. Eddie Starks officiating. Burial will follow at Little Rock Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 2, 2022 from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Michael Gantt, Phillip Zangas, Brian Starks, West Starks, Larry Cox and Jack Cox.

Gregorio “Pony” Banda

Mr. Gregorio “Pony” Banda, age 77, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Col San Isidro, Mier Y Noriega, NL and resided in Texas before moving to Atmore, Ala. in 1999. He was a member of Renovation Ministries. He was employed in the Cotton Gin Industry for over forty years, and was employed with Golden Gin Company in Jay, Fla. He loved his dogs, and chickens. He loved people, and he was always a hard worker. He always had this very infectious smile on his face. God shared a vision with him in 2018 about planting a church in Mier Y Noriega, México. In September 2022 Renovation Ministries opened a sister church in Mier Y Noricga, Nuero Leon México, La Iglesia de Ministerios de Renovacion. He was able to see his vision given to him by God completed. In his words “Ya despues de ver eso, que Dios me lleve.” “To God be all the glory.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luciano (Maxcimina Ramírez) Banda; one son-in law, Ricky Herrera and one grandson, Ricky Josh Herrera.

Mr. Banda is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Tomasa Banda of Atmore; three sons, Tony (Diana) Banda of Kress, Texas, Thomas (Amber) Banda of Poarch, Ala., lIsidro (Maria) Rico, of Mier Y Noriega, Mexico; four daughters, Maria Concepcion Banda (Juan de Dios Alvarado), of Valle Hermoso, Mexico, Melissa Herrera and Maxcimina (Christopher) Knorr, all of Atmore and Lorraine (Andrew) Marez, of Perdido, Ala.; two brothers, Armando Banda (Carmela) Ramirez and José Luis (Matilda) Banda, all of Lockney, Texas; one sister, Maria Banda, of Valle Hermoso; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Pastor, Brad Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 2, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. 

Pallbearers will be Luciano Banda, Armando Banda, Jr., José Luis Banda, Jr., Arnulfo Campos, Jr., Isaac Bernal, Rodolfo Rico.

Kathleen Teresa Wilson

Mrs. Kathleen Teresa Wilson, age 58, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, in Fairhope, Ala. She resided most of her life in Rabun, Ala. and was a member of Light House Tabernacle Church. She liked watching television n and enjoyed reading the bible and attending church.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Wayne Lois Stewart.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her mother, Heneritta Stewart of Rabun; two sons, Tracy (Linden) Stewart of Loxley, Ala. and Keith Stewart of Rabun; three daughters, Elizabeth (Richard) Brooks and Shelley Stewart, both of Rabun and Vanessa Tingler of Bay Minette, Ala.; three brothers, Elie Merritt, Jr.,  Jerry Mack Merritt and David (Christy) Stewart, all of Rabun; one sister, Kristie (Chris) Hadley, of Rabun; eleven grandchildren, Destiny, Natalie, Auburne, Sierra, Harley, Ethan, Neaven, Bentley, Jayden, Kennedy, Kyler; two great-grandchildren, Kingston, DJ; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Light House Tabernacle Church with Rev. Randal Short officiating. Burial will follow at Dean Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.at Light House Tabernacle Church.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Stewart, Keith Stewart, Marcus Stewart, Michael Stewart, Brandon Stewart, Richard Brooks, and David Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffery Stewart and Tracy Stewart, Jr.

Frances Edmonds Cheney

Mrs. Frances Edmonds Cheney, age 89, of Molino, Fla., passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022. She was born in Surginer, Ala. (Marengo County). She was a founding member of the Aldersgate Methodist Church (later United Methodist Church) in Molino. She loved all types of crafts and handwork, especially quilting, sewing, knitting, and crochet. For many years, she and her quilting partner were a fixture at Pensacola Interstate Fair- Building 3- as “the quilting ladies” for Escambia County Homemakers. She was also known as “the Twinkie lady” for the thousands of homemade treats sold in the fair’s Country Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 54 years, John Garrett Cheney.

Mrs. Cheney is survived by her daughters, Renee (Joe) Hardy of Atmore, Ala. and Kaye (Mark) Barraclough of Pensacola; sons, Clifford Cheney and John (Kim) Cheney, both of Molino; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Highway 29, Molino, FL with a time to visit with the family after the service.

Dixie Hunt Adams

Mrs. Dixie Hunt Adams, age 79, passed away Monday, November 14, 2022 at Olive Branch Rehabilitation Center in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Camden, Ala. to the late Paul and Vivian Hunt. She confessed Christ at an early age in Vrendenburg, Ala and later moved to Atmore, Ala. She was a proud graduate of Shield High School in Beatrice, Ala. She was formerly employed with Al’s 5&10 Department Stores, United Bank, and Escambia County Board of Education. She joined Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Adams; two sons, Rodney German and Ricky German; granddaughter, Shenika German.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her grandson, Rio (Brandy) German; great-grandson, Chase Favor; great-granddaughter, Kieedi German of Lake Wells, Fla. and Jamaya Allen. She reared one special daughter/sister-in-lawn Idell Adams Sauls of Los Angeles, Calif.; a special son/brother-in-law, Dennis (Glynis) Adams of Conyers, Ga.; devoted nephew, Dexter Adams; brothers-in-law, Edward (Bettye) Adams, Charles (Ruby) Adams, Odell (Matthews) Adams, Jesse (Linda) Adams and Judge (Kate) Adams and two sisters-in-law, Odell (Matthew) Parker and Eloise Adams, along with a host on nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Gregory Sanders, Pastor and Bishop Kevin Bufford, officiating, Pastor of A More Excellent Way Ministries, Snellville, Ga., Bernard L. Bryant, presiding.

Pallbearers were Dexter Adams, Reginald Adams, Akeem Riley, Harry Adams, Dewayne Adams and Edward Adams.

Floral attendants were his family and friends.

Chrissy Lashun Taylor Hale

Mrs.Chrissy Lashun Taylor Hale, age 51, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was born to Mary Hicks and Robert L. Taylor. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Damascus Baptist Church. She later united with Destine Worship Center. She was a proud graduate of Flomaton High School and later went on the Jefferson Davis Community College and Fortis College. She loved children and her New Orleans Saint Football team.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Ella Newton; sister, Pamela Hicks; brother, Arron Hicks; three aunts and three uncles.

Mrs. Hale I survived by her husband, Arden Hale of Flomaton; son, Darryl Taylor of Flomaton; one brother, Toray Hicks of Ellenwood, Ga.; two aunts, Judy Davis of Decatur, Ga. and Christine Byrd of Century, Fla; mother-in-law, Lillie D. Hale of Farmersville, Ala.; one bonus child (her baby girl), Chaniya Williams; two Godsons, Christian and Caden Walker; one Goddaughter, Qunaisha Green; adopted mother, Barbara Wesley; chosen sisters, Montez Wesley, Vanessa Savage, Carolyn Hebert, Nina Williams, Lady B (Dr. Felicia Bishop), Jackie Lee and Cynthia Dailey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 2 p.m. with Bishop Bernard Bishop, Pastor and Eulogist; Minister Rodney Bright, Presiding. Interment followed in Fanny Damascus Cemetery.

Leroy “Buck” Brown

Mr. Leroy “Buck” Brown, age 73, of Uriah, Ala., passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022. He was born in Baldwin County and reared by his loving bonus parents, Jack and Mazie English. He enjoyed serving his community as a Deacon of Grove Hill Baptist Church. In his pastime he enjoyed Fishing. He worked for Kimberly Clark in Huxford, Ala. for twenty plus years.

He was preceded in death by his biological and bonus parents; daughter, Lyn Kennedy and his brothers, Eddie Brown, Sr., Sam Brown, George Ray Brown, Monroe Brown, Jr., Robbert English, Jr., William English and sisters, Luevoing Brown Reynolds, Mary Lee Tate and Annie English.

Mr. Brown is survived by his daughters and sons, Sandra Brown, Sharon Boykin, both of Uriah, Sherry Edward of Franklin, Ala., Antoninette Mordore of San Francisco, Calif., Candace Williams and Keith Williams , Terrance Williams, Antonio Williams, all of Tensaw, Ala., Tiffany Cooper of Atmore, Ala., Vondaly Brown of Mobile, Ala.; siblings, Essie English, Classy Brown, Dorothy Brown, Corine Porter, Jimmy Lee (Everline) English, Minnie Benjamin, Ruby (Bobby) Hankerson, Delois Young; twenty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Noon at Grove Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Uriah, Ala., with William T. Bradley, Pastor, Eulogist and Pastor T. L. Douglas, Pastor/Emeritus. Interment followed in Grove Hill Missionary Baptist Cemetery.
