Details remained sketchy late Tuesday morning (June 21), but the Escambia County Detention Center website shows that an Atmore man was arrested early Tuesday morning, apparently on warrants issued by city police.
The website indicates that 32-year-old Alton Wayne Walker was booked into the facility at 4:33 a.m. on one count each of third-degree theft, possession of an undisclosed controlled substance and possession of unidentified drug paraphernalia.
Third-degree theft is a Class D felony that arises when the property stolen exceeds $500 but is less than $1,500. The charge may also be lodged under Alabama law if a debit or credit card is stolen.
An employee of the county jail’s booking and release division said Walker has not yet had a bond hearing, and that he was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on warrants obtained by Atmore police.
