Alice Katherine Nall Griffis

Alice Katherine Nall Griffis, age 94, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020.  She was born in Freemanville, Ala. to the late William Isaac Nall and Ellen Marildia White Nall. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Griffis; three sisters; three brothers and her longtime companion, Harold (Big Jim) Lindley. 

Mrs. Griffis is survived by her children, Barbara “Bobbie” Billingsley (Bill), Bonnie Lewis (James), Danny Griffis and Debbie Chavers (Terry); four grandchildren, Shelly Billingsley Trevino (Rick), Gina Lewis, Reid Billingsley and Denise Lewis (Paul Young); numerous great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Graveside service to follow at Pleasant Home Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 26, 2020 from 1 until 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to The American Heart Association, American Lung Association, American Diabetes Association or National Kidney Foundation.

Ronald Wayne Gresham

Gresham

Mr. Ronald Wayne Gresham, age 66, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020 at his home in Yelm, Wash. He was a native of Flomaton, Ala., former resident of Colorado (six months) and had resided in Yelm for the past eight months. He was of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Nora Gresham; five brothers, Donald Gresham, Eugene Gresham, William Gresham, Bobby Gresham and Carlton Gresham and one sister, Mary Portwood.

Mr. Gresham is survived by his daughter, Alisha Crutchfield of N. C.; one brother, Hughey (Gail) Gresham of Monroeville, Ala.; four sisters, Marie Peebles and Rose (Larry) Lambeth, all of Flomaton, Frances (Randy) Warren of Kerens, Texas and Carol (Robert) Smith of Byrneville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Dustin (Hannah) Crutchfield of Milton, Fla. and Ashlyn Crutchfield (Hunter) Smitha of Wash. and two great-grandsons, Samuel Levi Smitha of Wash. and Dexter Crutchfield of Washington.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery with Bro. Dennis Bowman officiating.

Margie Goodale-Boutwell

Mrs. Margie Goodale-Boutwell, age 93, of Enon, Ala., passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Pace, Fla. She was born in Pineville, Fla. to the late John and Tazzie Hastings. She enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her children and helping to raise her grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. Later she worked briefly for the Forestry Division at the Oak Grove fire tower. She pursued her passion for gardening, fishing, traveling, hunting and just being outdoors in general.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, George Goodale; two sons, Howard and Raymond Goodale; a granddaughter, Beth Goodale; great-grandsons, Nimiki Owl Allen, Myles Hart and a daughter-in-law, Nellie Goodale.
Mrs. Boutwell is survived by her second husband, William Boutwell; her sons, Carlis Goodale of Cantonment, Fla. and Edward Goodale of Enon; her daughters, Janice (Robert) Allen of Mossy Head, Fla. and Carol Ann (Willard) Askren of Pace; fourteen grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 29, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Dry Springs Church Community Cemetery with The Rev. Ken Johnson officiating..
Due to the Corona virus, services will be held in the open air at the grave site.

Nolen Ray Tollison  

Master Nolen Ray Tollison, age 9, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in Birmingham, Ala. He finished third grade at Five Points Elementary School. He was an Alabama Fan, loved sports, fishing, being outside and spending time with his siblings and other family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bennie Ray Maddox; great-grandfather, Henry Nolen Tollison; great-grandmothers, Joyce Gibson and Dummer Maddox and great-great- grandmother, Lila Gibson.

Master Tollison is survived by his mother and step-father, Tiffany Maddox (Chris Homan) of Lanett, Ala.; father, Logan Tollison of Molino, Fla.; maternal grandmother, Sarah Gibson Adams of Lanett; paternal grandmother, Margaret Tollison of Robertsdale, Ala.; paternal grandfather, George (Susan) Tollison of Uriah, Ala.; grandparents, Cindy Homan of Atmore, Ala. and Bob Robinson of Stapleton, Ala.; great-grandparent, Ricky Gibson of Poarch, Ala.; great-great grandparents, James (Peggy) Gentry of Uriah; two brothers, Noah Tollison and Bryce Tollison, both of Lanett; one sister, Aubriana Homan of Lanett and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 29, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Steadham Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday, June 29, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Rosemary Bowen Wall

Mrs. Rosemary Bowen Wall, age 69, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Frisco City, Ala., former resident of Eight Mile, Ala. and had resided in Atmore, for the past seven years. She was a homemaker, serving her family was her life. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Wall; daughter, Kimberly Wall Lofton; mother and step-father, Mary Lou and James Dannelley; father, Farrell Bowen; brother, Donnie Bowen; sister, Diane L. Lilley and nephew, Donnie Ray Lilley.

Mrs. Wall is survived by her two sons, Rex Vincent (Billie Jo) Wall of Atmore and Brian (Sherry) Wall of Saraland, Ala.; son-in-law, Bo Lofton of Atmore; three brothers, Wayne (Maxine) Bowen of Bay Minette, Ala., Terry (Freddie) Bowen of Megargel, Ala. and Carl (Susan) Bowen of Atmore; nine grandchildren, Whitney Lashea Wall Coats, Tara Nicole Wall, Carley Diane Wall Delts, Heather Rene Wall, Brooke Nicole Wall, Dallas Mary Kaylin Wall, Dylan Delane Wall, Ty Rex Lofton and Jessie Lofton and nine great-grandchildren, Jaylan Coats, Taven Vincent Coats, Amber Rose Coats, J.J. Coats, Paxton Wall, McKenzie Delts, Ainsley Delts, Ivy Rae Delts and Adelynn Grace Brown.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 9 until service time at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Robert Ray Stewart

Mr. Robert Ray Stewart, age 65, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 in Mobile, Ala. He was a native of Bay Minette, Ala. and resided in the Rabun, Ala. and Perdido, Ala. area for most of his life. He was retired from the Alabama Road Department with thirty years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting grass and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty years, Darlene Foster Stewart; parents, John R. “Shorty” and Muriel Brown Stewart; sister, Ruby Stewart Davis and brother-in-law, Millard S. Davis.
Mr. Stewart is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Lacey Stewart of Bay Minette; one daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Bradley Lawley of Bay Minette; three brothers, Charles (Linda) Stewart of Mt. Vernon, Ala., Freddie (Sandy) Stewart and William Stewart, all of Perdido; five grandchildren, Lane, Leigh Ann, Chloe, Valley and Emery; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Don Sanks and Bro. Michael Hadley officiating. Burial will follow at Hall’s Fork Cemetery.

Robert Benjamin

Mr. Robert Benjamin, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced by Christian Memorial Funeral Home.

Cenny Ruth James

Ms. Cenny Ruth James, age 64, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020. She was born in Atmore to Cenny and Orion C. James. She was a 1973 graduate of Escambia County High School. She was an industrial associate until her retirement. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church serving faithfully as her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Gordon and Alice Craig and Arthur and Pearline Riley James; first husband, Krzeminski Roberts; second husband, Lee Van McWhorter and brothers, Ronnie James and Sidney Banks.

Ms. James is survived by her mother; children, Latonya L. Sanders, Krzeminski Roberts, Rocky (Sonjia) R. Roberts and Cen-Krystal Roberts; three sisters, Berlinda Howard, Deloris Green and Christine Williams, all of Atmore; mother-in-law, Elnetta Thomas; aunt, Alma Thomas and one uncle, Neolin Craig; special cousin, William Thomas; special niece, Anglies Whatley and daughter-in-law, Sonjia R. Roberts; nine grandchildren and special granddaughter, T’Naijay “Tee” Roberts and six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist church with Rev. Dr. Michael L. Wilson, Pastor and Eulogist with Rev. Ernestine Fountain, presiding. Interment followed in Pierce-Rabb Montgomery Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Katral James, Rocky Roberts, Krze Roberts, Jamyreon Whatley, James Whatley, Joshua Roberts, Brian L. James and Jamie James.

Honorary pallbearer was William Thomas.

Floral attendants were her nieces, family and friends.

Glynith “G.G.” Byrd

Mrs. Glynith “G.G.” Byrd, age 58, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 in Birmingham, Ala.


She was a native of Stanton, Texas, former resident of Kingwood, Texas and had resided in Atmore, Ala. for the past thirteen years. She was an employee of Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union, loved fishing, hunting and was highly active outdoors. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of McCullough.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Latty and sister, Joan Harris.
Mrs. Byrd is survived by her mother, Peggy Latty of Flomaton, Ala.; husband, Ronald Byrd of Atmore; two sons, Sean (Meredith) Searls of Houston, Texas and Kevin (Phoebe) Searls of Poquoson, Va.; two grandchildren, Gage Searls and Dexter Wood; father-in-law- (late Troy Byrd) and mother-in-law, Margaret Byrd; sisters-in-law, Patricia (David) Gibbs of Atmore and Janet (Ricky) Burkette of Mobile, Ala.; brothers-in-law, Bobby (Lisa) Byrd of Oak Grove, Fla. and Bill Harris of Flomaton, Ala.; nieces, Kelly (Matt) Clark and Christy Harris, all of Pollard, Ala., Ashley (Chad) White of Moundville, Ala., Lindsay (Michael) Wood and Stacey (Kevin) White, all of Atmore , Taylor Byrd of Pensacola, Fla., Audrie Byrd and Kristen (Luke) McDaniel, all of Oak Grove and Kayleigh Burkette of Mobile, Ala.; nephews, Matt Burkette and Zach Burkette, both of Destin, Fla. and thirteen great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Alton Lister and Bro. Breceda officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
