DOC announces 22 free-world arrests

Alabama Department of Corrections officials announced this week that the department’s Law Enforcement Services Division made numerous arrests over the past three months of staff members and free-world individuals attempting to introduce illegal contraband into correctional facilities.
Three of 22 free-world arrests were made at Fountain Correctional Facility near Atmore. No details, names of those arrested or mug shots of the suspects were furnished by ADOC.
Five staff members of various penal institutions were also arrested, and no details, names or mug shots were released.
DOC investigators also arrested confiscated more than 150 electronics and more than 100 weapons and worked with the prison system’s K-9 Bureau to conduct 49 institutional searches that led to confiscation of 7,166 grams of unspecified illegal drugs.
The facilities at which staff members were arrested were not disclosed, but the free-world arrests also included Bibb Correctional Facility in Brent (2); Donaldson Correction Facility in Bessemer (7); Elmore Correctional Facility in Elmore (3); North Alabama Community Work Center (1); St. Clair Correctional Facility in Springville (4), and Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton (2).
