ECTS alumni spreads love

Some of the filled stockings and Santa hats provided for the residents

Special to Atmore News

The Escambia County Training School (Golden Eagles) Alumni Gathering meets annually, hosted by the ECTS Class of 1967. While it’s a time of fellowship across several classes, it’s also a time to give back to the community.
The Gathering collects funds for an ongoing scholarship project for high school students, but they also select special projects. This year, they delivered blankets (provided by Delinda Kidd), stuffed Santa stockings and Santa hats to residents at Atmore Nursing Center. Due to residents’ health concerns, ECTS members were not able to deliver the presents themselves, but they did give them to Activity Director Darlene Murphy to distribute. Class members had planned a devotional service which included prayers, Bible reading, poems, and Christmas carols.
If you would like to donate to the ECTS Alumni Gathering for future projects, please check with a member of the Class of 1967.
ECTS Alumni Gathering founder and chairwoman is Barbara Poole Harris. Advisor is Eula McNeal Davis.
