The Fort Mims Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution announces the DAR Good Citizens from three area high schools. The students were selected from the Senior Class of each school based on qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism to an outstanding degree.
The DAR Good Citizens for 2019-20 are Gaines Douglas Joel Tanner from Escambia Academy, Brenna Liana Watson from Escambia County High School, and Mattie Diane White from Flomaton High School.
The DAR Good Citizens were eligible to participate in the National DAR Scholarship Contest which included background information in school and community and an essay. All three DAR Good Citizens participated the scholarship competition. One Chapter winner’s package from each Chapter could be selected to advance to District to compete with entries from Baldwin and Mobile counties. The District winner would advance to State competition, and the State winner would go to National competition. This is the first step in a long process.
The Fort Mims Chapter NSDAR winner is Mattie White.
Each recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award is to be commended for excellence in school and community activities. Recognition of each winner will be given at Awards Day or Senior Recognition Day at the end of the school year.
