James Powell

Lee Roy Wiggins

Mr. R. Lee Roy Wiggins, age 92, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born on in Bratt, Fla. to the late Preston and Grace Langford Wiggins. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bratt and honorary deacon and past deacon at Walnut Hill Baptist Church. He was a Mason, a member of the Walnut Hill Ruritan Club for over fifty years and was the first president of Walnut Hill Water Works. He served in the United States Army and served on the draft board. He was a retired district conservationist from Escambia County Florida Soil and Water Conservation. He was instrumental in working with past Superintendent Jim Mayo of the Escambia County School Board for the location of Northview High School. He worked on creating the Northview High School football field and baseball fields at Northwest Escambia Bradberry Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rayford Wiggins and Leonard Wiggins.

Mr. Wiggins is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Lois Shell Wiggins; two sons, Larry (Pamela) Wiggins of Daphne, Ala. and Gary (Judith) Wiggins of Davisville, Fla.; two sisters, Clydell Tisdale of Daphne and Willneila Henderson of Flomaton, Ala.; granddaughters, Leah (Gary) King, Robyn (Brian) Andrews, Kerrie (Teryll) Boutwell, Melissa (Josh) McElhaney, Jessica (Terry) Levins, Amanda Lashley, Deana (Shawn) Jones and twenty-three great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roy Chewning officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky Wiggins, Lamar Wiggins, Harry Brooks, Phillip Henderson, Shawn Jones and Terry Levins.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church of Bratt.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Barbara Ann Reyes

Mrs. Barbara Ann Reyes, age 77, of Ashford, Ala., passed away Monday, December 2, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of eight year, Arthur (Rocky) Reyes; her parents, Capers Houston Davis and Mary Malisa Davis; her brother and sister Jerry Capers Davis and Myrlas DeNeil Terry.

Mrs. Reyes is survived by her loving dogs; daughter, Roxie Reyes; grandchildren, Jade Reyes, Arayne Reyes and several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and her great-great-nieces, Kaylee Brook Temples, Jaidyn Oliva Temples and Rachel Lynn Raybon.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Mothershed Cemetery in Freemanville, Ala.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to hospice or a local animal shelter.

Carl M. White

White

Mr. Carl M. White, age 80, passed away, Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at his home in Deatsville, Ala. He was a native of Flomaton, Ala., former resident of Jackson, Ala. and had resided in Deatsville for the past two years. Beginning at a young age, Carl lived a life full of a passion to do God’s work. Over his 60+ year career in the pulpit, he preached in almost every state and around the world. He became known as one of the well-respected Church of Christ Ministers in the country. While his accomplishments in the pulpit have brought him a lot of public notoriety, his greatest accomplishment is knowing he was able to speak the Word of God to thousands. In addition he was also retired from Bosie Cascade. He also held many degrees. Carl was a man who lived his life with integrity and put his love of God first. The impact he had on the world and beyond is incredible. In addition to his love of God and family, Carl had a passion for the Alabama Crimson tide Football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Mildred Tatum White; infant sister, Susan; sister, Patricia White Lewis; father-in-law, Joseph Macks and mother-in-law, Rachel U. Macks.

Mr. White is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Barbara Macks White; his children, Patricia Wade and Pamela (Tim) Withrow; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Keith) Hood, Amber (Adam) Williams, and Charles “Chas” M. Wade; great-granddaughter, Harper D. Hood; great- grandson, Samson G. Landry; brother, Bill Helton; sisters, Flossie Manry Salter and Dale Rogers and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Flomaton Church of Christ with Minister Billy Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Flomaton Church of Christ.

Bruce Huey Eckert

Mr. Bruce Huey Eckert, age 72, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019 at his home in Rabun, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Rabun. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, sweet, loveable and kind. He was retired, loved to fish, camping and Alabama Football. He was a member of New Testament Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Eckert; mother, Velma Lane Hall and sister, Teresa Ann Eckert.

Mr. Eckert is survived by his wife, Betty Joyce Eckert of Rabun; sons, Kelly Wayne (Melanie) Barrientes of Houston, Texas and Dewayne (Nikki) Minchew of Rabun; daughters, Kim (John) Platt and Kelly (Joel) Smith, all of Chunchula, Ala. and Renae (Eric) White of Rabun; sister, Geneva Eckert (Joe Allen) Ward of Lucedale, Miss.; thirteen grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 9, 2019 at 2 p.m. at New Testament Church with Rev. Bubba Rolin and Rev. Tony Shackley officiating. Burial will follow at Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 9, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at New Testament Church.

Pallbearers will be Johnathon Platt, Gage McKenzie, Heath Ryan, Dillon Minchew, Brandon Goins, Jonah Smith and Tony Graham.

Mr. Jessie Lee English, age 90, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at his home in Atmore, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Atmore. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as a correction officer with the Alabama Prison System with thirty-six years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight years, Effie Buckhault English; parents, John and Sudie Mae English; three sisters, Edith English Ardis, Inez English Buckhault and Annie English Grant and two brothers, James English and LB English.
Mr. English is survived by one son, John Lee (Christie) English of Atmore; two daughters, Patsy (Kenny) Taylor and Linda Sue (Ronald) Baggett, all of Atmore; one brother, Hugo (Eunice) English of Flomaton, Ala.; one sister, Juanita English (Earl) Gunn of Huxford, Ala.; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel with Pastor David Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Douglas Edward Clack

Mr. Douglas Edward Clack, age 58, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Ala. A native of Reidsville, N.C., he was reared in Brewton, Ala. and he was a 1981 graduate of W.S. Neal High School in East Brewton. After graduation he was employed at D.W. McMillian Hospital – Brewton, Alabama Ductile Co., and after relocating to Atmore he was employed at Standard Furniture Co., Bay Minette, Ala. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Edward and Sadie Ruth Clack; his brothers, Eugene Clack and James Morris; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Clack and brother-in-law, Curtis Thomas Philon.

Mr. Clack is survived by his wife, Cynthia Renae Clack of Atmore; three daughters, Whitley (Demetris, Sr.) Preyear and Mariah Campbell, all of Brewton and Angelica Clack of Montgomery, Ala.; three sons, Christopher (Sandra) Fountain, Sr., Darrius Fountain, all of Brewton and Jeremiah Clack of Atmore; two step-daughters, Brittany (Roderick II) Montgomery of Orlando, Fla. and Jameka Rudolph of Montgomery, Ala.; one brother, Robert Clack of Brewton; three sisters, Roslyn Philon of Silas, Ala., Robin (Calvin) Green and Mary (Ollie) Bailey, all of Brewton; eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at noon at The House of God which is the Church of The Living God The Pillar, Ground, And Truth without Controversy- Atmore (Freemanville Community) with General Elder Dr. Jeanette Lott, Pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Baptist Hill Cemetery, Brewton.

Ms. Brunetta Bradford, age 65, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Atmore Community Hospital.

Ms. Dorothy Mae Brown, age 84, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December. 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. at New Regeneration Baptist Church, Atmore with Rev. Donzell Young, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Pierce, Rabb, and Montgomery Cemetery (Freemanville Community).

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the church from 10 a.m. until funeral service time.

Annie Mae Miller

Ms. Annie Mae Miller, age 101, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at her home. She was a member of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, Atmore.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and a son, Theodore Miller; three grandchildren, Mary Lee, Ivey, Earl Miller and Gregory Lee.

Ms. Miller is survived by her children, Willie Hicks and Oci (Al) Hall, all of Oakland, Calif., Deloise Lawrence of Mesquite, Nev., Mary Lee of Brewton, Freddie Miller of Miami, Fla., Bessie Jones, Killeen, Texas and John (Ruby) Miller of Brewton, Ala.; five generations of grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with Pastor Marcus Lee, officiating. Interment followed at Piney Grove Cemetery, Brewton.

Pallbearers were her grandchildren.

Flower bearers were her grandchildren and nieces.
