Emergency crews were dispatched last Tuesday afternoon, November 26, to Manack Creek Bridge, on Booneville Road, where an 18-wheel logging truck overturned and lost its load.
According to Alabama State Trooper reports, the rig’s driver — 42-year-old Rayford Darrell Morris of Uriah — was traveling north on County Road 1 (Booneville Road) in a 2019 Mack around 4:45 p.m. when the truck ran off the right side of the road.
State troopers reported that Morris “made an evasive action, overturned, and struck a guardrail end.” Volunteers from fire departments in McCullough and Little River also responded to the site.
The trucker was not injured but was taken to Atmore Community Hospital by private vehicle due to federal requirements that a driver holding a CDL must be administered a drug and alcohol test if a vehicle is disabled and has to be towed.
No charges were filed in relation to the wreck.
Cleanup crews spent more than three hours clearing the debris from the roadside.
