Members of the Canoe Study Club were invited to the home of Mrs. Becky McDonald on Tuesday, April 16, for the club’s End of the Year luncheon. Mrs. McDonald’s home was beautifully decorated for the Easter season. Each member prepared a dish for the occasion.
Everyone enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and festive drinks while visiting prior to lunch. Mrs. McDonald, Club President, chose the social time to honor Mrs. Sarah Hall. Mrs. Hall was presented a lovely plaque in recognition of her many years of devoted service to the Canoe Study Club, along with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers. Club members presented Mrs. Hall with cards of appreciation for her service.
Mrs. Hall stated that she and her husband were not yet living in Canoe in 1952, when she received notification that she had been accepted as a member of the club. The Halls moved to Canoe in 1953, where she continues to live. Her mother-in-law, Mrs. A. Arthur (Lucile) Hall was one of the original organizers of the Canoe Study Club in 1921.
After lunch was served and enjoyed, a short business meeting was held. The meeting was then adjourned for the summer break. Club meetings will resume next fall.
