Deacons delivering gifts
Each year, the Men’s Department at Mt. Gillead Missionary Baptist Church fills Christmas gift bags for the male residents at Atmore Nursing Center. This year, they delivered bags to 32 residents Wednesday, December 20. The bags contain caps and socks and toiletries. PCI Christmas parade
It was worth waiting for. The Poarch Christmas Parade was postponed from Friday, December 8, to Tuesday, December 19. On the 8th, the weather forecast was for sleet and snow. Christmas cheer at ACH
Stitches, Atmore Community Hospital mascot, made rounds at ACH Saturday morning, spreading Christmas cheer to 23 patients as well as visitors and employees. Stitches was assisted by Kharina Gorme in the lab department. Hospital Auxiliary members Patsy Brown and Marlene Forrester also gave out Christmas items. Man tries to run down officers
An Atmore man, initially suspected of stealing several items from a local business, remained in the Escambia County Detention Center this week, charged with attempting to run down two Atmore police officers who were trying to arrest him on the theft charge. Flomaton teen killed
A 19-year-old Flomaton woman was killed Friday night, December 22, after she was thrown from her car, then twice run over by drivers who did not see her lying in the roadway. According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Daizee Brooke Angus was driving a 2007 Chevy Impala eastward on Escambia County (Fla.)
