At the June 15 meeting, the Escambia County Board of Education approved the proposed Out-of-District Agreement giving the requirements for students coming into the district from outside the attendance zones for the Escambia County Ala. school system. Sixteen employees with the Escambia County school system were honored with a reception Tuesday, May 16, at Flomaton High School. The 16 represented almost 400 years in the system. The Escambia County Board of Education met in special session Thursday, May 11, to consider two personnel items. Board action resulted in the termination of Escambia County Middle School teacher Kim Downey, who was arrested at the school February 24, after three suspected marijuana “roaches” were found inside a bag in her classroom.
