ECMS Red Ribbon banner winner
Each class at Escambia County Middle School created a banner to hang outside their classroom for Red Ribbon Week. The theme of the banner was centered around “Drug and Alcohol Free.” Banners were judged and the winning class will receive an ice cream treat during recess. The winning class was Mrs. Wasdin’s fifth-grade homeroom shown at left.
Math … for parents
Math can be tough – and new math models can be even more confusing for adults helping their students with homework. To assist parents and guardians, the administration and staff at Escambia County Middle School held Math Night Monday, November 13. Parents, grandparents and guardians were invited to attend sessions acquainting them with the Eureka Math curriculum. They were given resources including a number of websites and tutorials.
‘Under Age, Under Arrest’ – ECMS students get chilling lesson on underage drinking
Although the issue at first seemed only distantly related to their collective and current position in life, Escambia County Middle School seventh- and eighth-graders discovered last week why state officials are targeting their demographic in an awareness campaign aimed at reducing the frequency of underage drinking. Peer Helpers active at ECMS – Heading Toys for Tots project
Escambia County Middle School is a pilot Middle School Peer Helper Program site. The purpose of this program is to promote a drug-free community and school, to educate parents, and create community-based partnerships. Peer Helpers are students who are trained to recognize when their peers may have a problem, listen to fellow students confidentially and assist them with emotional, societal, or academic struggles.
