Flags on Memorial Day
On Saturday, May 27, several Royal Rangers from Liberty Baptist Church in Pineview helped the Atmore VFW Auxiliary place flags on veterans’ graves for Memorial Day. Children left alone when suspect flees
A Brewton man, already the subject of a felony arrest warrant, was further charged with leaving two children alone in the East Brewton house from which he apparently fled to avoid arrest. According to Escambia County Sheriff’s Office reports, deputies were sent to 402 Victory Street shortly after midnight last Wednesday (May 31) to arrest 24-year-old Timothy Tyrone Dees, for whom a felony warrant on unspecified charges had been issued.…
Airport awarded fuel farm funds
U.S. Congressman Bradley Byrne’s office announced last week that Atmore Municipal Airport will receive an allocation from an open-ended Federal Aviation Administration grant to fund construction of a planned single-pump fueling facility. The $150,618 in federal funds, part of the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, will assist the general aviation airport in constructing a “fuel farm,” which will allow it to become a self-sustaining entity by generating revenue through sales of…
Fatal fire in Appleton
Authorities believe that a body discovered during a May 30 house fire is that of a 70-year-old Appleton man who lived alone in the burned-out mobile home. According to a press release from Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Lambert, an emergency call was received around 12:30 p.m. by Brewton police, who transferred the call to ECSO dispatchers.
