Hall named to Hall of Fame
Five area residents will be inducted into the Atmore Area Hall of Fame later this month. Billy Conn Madison, chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee, released the names of this year’s inductees: William America, Earl Etheridge, Dr. William T. Hall, Howard Shell, and Eddie Staff. The induction ceremony will be held Saturday, April 29, 6 p.m., at The Club. Tickets for the ceremony and the meal are $25 each.…

Auditions set for radio drama
The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts will simulate a 1940s radio studio, reading from the script, producing their own sound effects. You don’t have to memorize lines and it’s only a two-week commitment. Auditions will be Thursday, April 27 at 7 p.m. Rehearsals will be Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for the following two weeks. Show dates are Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13.

Controlled burn spreads, destroys unoccupied house
Firefighters from Atmore and Poarch remained at 12:45 p.m. Friday (April14) at the scene of a fire that destroyed an unoccupied house at 65 Martin Luther King Drive. Atmore police have one end of the busy street blocked off, while an Atmore Ambulance Service crew is parked across the other end. Traffic is being diverted around both ends of the fire.
