Sex offender moves, fails to notify authorities
Jamey Lavon Mothershed, 38, a registered sex offender who was supposed to be living in Escambia County, was arrested November 29 by Escambia County Sheriff’s Office personnel after it was discovered that he had moved from the county without filing proper notification. According to sheriff’s reports, Mothershed was convicted in Florida in 2001 of lewd and lascivious battery on a victim older than 12 but younger than 16. The suspect…

Brewton man arrested for sex abuse, drugs
A 57-year-old Brewton man remained in the Escambia County Detention Center this week after several charges were lodged against him involving sexual abuse of a child, then two drug-related charges were tacked on during his arrest.
