WCA donates $20K-plus to library, high school – Monroe County Public Library and J.U. Blacksher High School receive Christmas TITO funds
Christmas came early for Monroe County Public Library and J.U. Blacksher High School. On December 16, both organizations were presented with checks from Wind Creek Atmore’s Ticket In Ticket Out (TITO) program. Together, the donations totaled $23,712.82. Former Atmore resident Dottie Albert brought a package from Texas last time she visited Atmore. Dottie, who now resides in Country Lane Senior Community in McKinney, Texas, saw fellow resident Mary McAllister throwing away cans with pop tops still intact. Giving back
Velma Jackson-Wilkins, Escambia County High School Class of 1972, stopped by the school Tuesday, January 3, to drop off a gift. She donated $500 toward the choir’s trip to Carnegie Hall in New York in April. Jackson-Wilkins resides in Manhattan and hopes to take the group to dinner while they’re in the Big Apple. Thirty-five (35) families, with 85 children ranging from newborn to 18 years old, currently reside at the National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
