Ice-slick roads in the Mobile-Pensacola area prevented a group of costumed comic book heroes and heroines from showing up to help, but Atmore firefighters braved the cold and worked in shifts outside Walmart Saturday (Dec. 9) to conduct their annual toy drive. The cold and the absence of the costumed characters resulted in donations of “a little more than half” of what the group collected last year for a local children’s ministry.
