Mayfest was set for May 2, but the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce had to change plans due to coronavirus guidelines.
On May 8, the Chamber set the dates for this year’s festival for July 31 and August 1 with the annual softball tournament held both days and the festival on Saturday, August 1. However, last week, the Chamber issued a statement saying the tournament has to be cancelled due to unavoidable conflicts in scheduling.
“This year’s festival will proceed with all other aspects previously planned for Mayfest including Miss Mayfest … and the Beautiful Baby Contest,” Chamber executive director Emily Wilson said. “While we anticipate one of the best Mayfest festivals ever with lots of fun, great entertainment, and amazing food, we are committed to the safety of all. We are diligently working on ensuring all safety precautions needed for the health of everyone are reviewed and implemented.”
