Clyde Helton

Mr. Clyde Helton, age 94, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 at his home in Robinsonville after a long illness. He was born in Atmore to Fonnie and Junnie Helton. One of his most treasured memories was having played on the undefeated Atmore Blue Devils football team in 1950. He served in the Army serving in Alaska and upon completion of his service to his country, he returned to farming, He worked for the United States Postal Service until final retirement. He loved hunting and fishing, watching old westerns and sports on TV and riding his side by side around his farm.  He was a lifelong member of Robinsonville Baptist Church serving in almost every position, living his life for God and his family. He was a genuine Christian man who lived what he believed. He was always civic minded, serving his community in many capacities through the years, including Escambia County Cattleman’s Association President. He was a proud long-time member of the National Rifle Association. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, CW Helton, Leople Peacock, Ima Crawford, Robert Helton and Kendral Helton; grandson, Randall Helton.

Mr. Helton is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Gladys McLain; sister, Nelda Jernigan; sons, Clay (Susan) Helton and Rex Helton; grandchildren, Clay Helton Jr., Morgan (Nate) Scott, Landon Allen Helton and Myles Helton; a host of step-grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Robinsonville Baptist Church with Dr. Toomy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Robinsonville Church Cemetery.
The family received friends Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from Noon until service time at 1 p.m. at Robinsonville Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were Rodney Helton, Mike Helton, Clay Helton Jr., Landon Helton, Will Owens and Charlie Woods.

DeWayne Hollingsworth

Mr. DeWayne Hollingsworth, age 80, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at his home. He retired from Baldwin County School System, but farming was his true passion. He was also an avid New York Yankee fan and Florida State Seminole fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Bessie Hollingsworth; daughter, Tanga Rena Hollingsworth; great-granddaughter, Addison Yvonne; sister, Thelma Heathcock and brother, Eldred Hollingsworth.

Mr. Hollingsworth is survived by his wife, of sixty-one years, Barbara Lambert Hollingsworth of Enon, Fla.; three sons, Ronald (Barbara) Hollingsworth, Robert Hollingsworth, both of Enon and Russell (Suzanne) Hollingsworth of Beulah, Fla; daughter, Rachael (Marty) Hamilton of Enon; brother, Paul Hollingsworth of Robertsdale, Ala.; ten grandchildren, Kimberly, David (Nina), Kelly (Curtis), Crystal (Nathan), Rena, Bessie, Kourtnei, Dalton (Grace), Caitlyn, Hannah; ten great-grandchildren with one on the way, Tatum, Austin, Lane, Colton, Nathan, Kharrington, Brody, Hayden, Tucker and Riktarios and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Monday, April 29, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Brother Alton Lister and Paul Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Hollingsworth Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.
Pallbearers will be Brian Hall, Scott Frances, John Heathcock, Shawn O’Conner, Colton James, Wesley Wiggins, Michael Lambert, and Chris Singleton.

Chennelle Yvette Brown Beacham

Ms. Chennelle Yvette Brown Beacham, age 57, of Montgomery, Ala., formerly of Atmore, Ala. (Nokomis Community), passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 in Montgomery. She was born to the late Homer and Fannie Lee Brown. She united with Mt Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and upon her relocation to Montgomery she attended True Divine Baptist Church.

She was a 1984 graduate of Escambia County High School Class of 1984 and attended Concordia College and Tuskegee University. She was employed with Alabama Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer, changed careers and graduated from Sparks Technical College, Eufaula Ala. as a Licensed Practical Nurse working faithfully in this role and enjoyed nursing. She expanded her career yet again, receiving her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing with high honors from Auburn University in Montgomery. She remained in the nursing profession and worked with Humana Healthcare Service until her untimely transition.

Through a breast cancer battle, she pressed on to receive her Legal Nursing Certification in January 2024. She was a fighter and dedicated, she could have easily given up when she was first diagnosed, but she held onto her unwavering faith. She loved being a mother and GiGi more than anything else. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and watching a good game of football.  She was the epitome of what it means to be a warrior.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Homer and Vera Brown and Roosevelt and Martha Burrell.

Ms. Beacham is survived by daughter, Tiffany Brown Smith and her son-in-law, Fredrico Smith; her grandson, Amari Smith and Brian Brown Jr. whom she loved like a grandson; four sisters, Martha (Alfred) Ingram, Elizbeth Hazley and Shirley Brown, all of Atmore and Demetris (Robert) Fountain of Pensacola, Fla.; six brothers, Willie Brown Dewanzo Brown, both of Atmore, Caleb (Linda) Brown of Moss Point, Miss., Roosevelt (Betty) Brown of Whitehall, Ark., Homer (Doritha) Brown of Montgomery, Ala. and Andre Brown of Eatontown, N.J.; three aunts. Mary Curry and Agnes Wilson, both of Atmore, Vera Smallwood of Mobile Ala.; one uncle, Carl (Frances) of Pensacola Fla. and host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Noon at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center with Bishop Darryl North, Host Pastor and Pastor Roosevelt Brown, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Mt. Shiloh Cemetery, Atmore (Nokomis Community).

Travis Randolph Lowry, Sr.

Mr. Travis Randolph Lowry, Sr., age 75, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was owner/operator of Atmore Diesel Service and was known nationally for his diesel mechanic skills. He loved to barter his services to help those less fortunate. He was an avid hunter and conservationist. He was a humble man who loved to help those in need and he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Cassie Lowry; six brothers, Clifton Lowry, H. H. Lowry (Buggs), Boss Lowry, John Lowry, Nathan Lowry, and Albert Lowry and one great-grandchild, Byron Buck Sexton.

Mr. Lowry is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Charlotte Lowry; three sons, Steven (Eleanor) Livings of Cantonment, Fla., Randy Travis (Stacey) Lowry, Jr. and Dereck Lowry, both of Brewton, Ala.; two daughters, Shennon Lambeth of Flomaton, AL. and Melinda Lowry of Brewton; three brothers, Sammy (Jeanette) Lowry, Curt (Lavelle) Lowry and Frank (Melinda) Lowry, all of Jay, Fla.; five sisters, Martha (Bobby) Boutwell and Debbie (David) Walther, all of Jay, Sandy Holt of Flomaton, Elaine (Tim) Fendley of Milton, Mary (Troy) Baggett of Brewton; eleven grandchildren, Colt, Dakota, Cody, Emily, Logan, Jill, Houston, William, Savannah, Trevor and Sam; eight great-grandchildren, Carson, Raylin, Rayne, Kai, Samuel, Steven, Rye, and Emerlee; a special sister-in-law, Sharon (Belva) Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be announced at a later time.

Richard Edwin Crosby

Mr. Richard Edwin Crosby, age 60, of Lottie, Ala. passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024. He was born in Pensacola, Fla., has resided in Seattle, Wash. and then in Lottie the past three months. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, boating. He loved watching TV with his dog “Pie Pie”.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edwin Crosby and wife, a Rose Crosby.

Mr. Crosby is survived by his mother, Kathryn McGhee Archer of Atmore, Ala.; one son, Steven (Rose) Taylor of Port Angeles, Wash.; one brother, Gerald Allen Crosby of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Terri Lynn Crosby of Atlanta, Ga.; three aunts, Rose McGhee Conion of Okeechobee, Fla.; Barbara McGhee Stephens, of Lottie and Linda McGhee of Atmore, Ala., other relatives and friends.

Jack Ray

Mr. Jack Ray, age 70, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024 in Mobile, Ala. He was a member of My Father’s Vineyard. He worked as a diesel mechanic for many years. He loved his family. In his past time, he enjoyed piddling and working on cars. He enjoyed going to drag races especially the time he got to spend with his family. He grew up in the, Ala. community before moving to Castleberry, Ala. the past twenty -six years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee (Annie Ruth Sanspree) Ray.

Mr. Ray is survived by his one son, Josh (Holly) Ray of Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter, Jennifer (Russell) Smith of Vancleave, Miss.; one brother, Johnny (Charlene) Ray of Canoe, Ala.; one sister, Judy (Jack) Taylor of Ocala, Fl.; five grandchildren, Gracie Smith, Eli Smith, Haleigh Dove, Haley Smeltzer, Brooklyn Ray; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at Noon at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Robert McLaney officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday May 3, 2024 from 11 a.m. until service time at Noon at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Norman Duckett Boyd

Mr. Norman Duckett Boyd, age 83, of Pensacola, Fla. and former resident of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 from injuries received in an automobile collision.

Norman was a man of all trades, He was an M.P. in the Army; A 20 year policeman, he was an administrator, a counselor, a teacher, a minister and a singer, an actor and a poet. He loved to sing in choir, in plays, in karaoke, and even the front porch!

Patrick Charles Nolen

Mr. Patrick Charles Nolen, age 63, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in Minneapolis, Minn.
