The driver fails a field sobriety test and is arrested
A passenger “died” from his injuries

The Escambia County High School prom was held Friday, March 22. The prom began with lead-out in the school’s Hodnette Auditorium, then commenced at Wind Creek.
But before the prom came Prom Promise Wednesday, March 20, an effort to make students think about their choices and the possible consequences. In order to make the possibilities real to students, several first responder groups participated in a mock accident and arrest Wednesday –Atmore Police Department, Atmore Fire Department, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, MedStar air ambulance, and Lifeguard Ambulance.
A simulated accident resulted in a fatality and the arrest of the driver for impaired driving.
By adhering to the Prom Promise, students pledge to remain free from alcohol and other drugs, never drive under the influence, or ride with an impaired driver, and to always wear a seatbelt.
