This last Friday night Northview Chiefs swept past their long-time rival the Jay Royals in Bratt for the annual homecoming game. With a final score of 41-19, it seems that the Chiefs’ season is taking a turn for the better.
To start off the ball game, Northview received the ball on kick off. Wyatt Scruggs ran it down the field into the red zone for a first down for the Chiefs. Joe Wright ran it in for the first touchdown of the night. With a good kick, the score was 7-0. The Royals scored soon after, tying the ball game at 7-7. Devin Kelly ran the ball in for the Chiefs for another touchdown, making the score 14-7.
In the second quarter, Kelly scored yet again, making the score 21-7 with the extra point being good. The Royals came back with a touchdown, but they did not make the extra point, making the score 21-13 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Jay scored again, making the score even closer at 21-19. Kelly scored again for the Chiefs in this quarter of the game, bringing the score even higher at 28-19.
In the final quarter of the game, Scruggs scored another touchdown for the Chiefs, making the score 35-19. Wright also scored another touchdown for Northview, but the Chiefs were not able to make the 2-point conversion, leaving the final score at 41-19.
“Anytime you’re able to beat your rival it’s good,” Defensive Coordinator Jayce Gandy said. “Jay has a very good football team. Our offense exploded tonight. Hopefully we can take this momentum and finish the year strong.”
This Friday Northview will play at home against Blountstown. The game starts at 7. Come out and support!
