Teresa Byrd didn’t know just what to expect Saturday, but she got way more than she expected at the inaugural Sharon Brown Car Show. They had hoped for maybe 40 classic car owners to show up, but the number was right at 80, filling the State Line Pawn Shop parking lot. Teresa credits the success to State Line employee Danny Rolin who organized the event.
Folks turned out to show their appreciation for the classics – and also to show their respect in Sharon’s memory and their love and friendship for Teresa and Sharon’s daughter Marylynn Bryant.
Nashville recording artist and Atmore resident Ricky Crook performed throughout the day. He and Sharon were close friends and he wanted to honor her, he said.
Everyone at the show was invited to vote for their favorite entry. Ten trophies were handed out, in no particular order, Kelly Davidson, Dennis and Hazel Nordstrom, Eddie White, Ron Howard, James Brazwell, Jeremy Rolin, Monica and Rickie (last name not provided), James and Jan Jeter, Charles Sullivan, Bodie Tullis.
In addition the following trophies were awarded: Best Paint – Peewee Powell; Best Engine – Micah Presley; Best Interior – Norman Bragg; Moonshiners Pick – David and Teresa Brown.
The main trophy of the day – People’s Choice, the Sharon Brown Trophy – went to Bodie Tullis
