The Atmore Lions Club met Wednesday, April 19, in the Mayson Auditorium of Atmore Community Hospital.
President Lion Chuck Brooks called the meeting to order and was in charge of opening activities.
Seventeen members, plus guest Josh Brown, were present as Lion Shane Hadley introduced his speaker for the day – Amanda Selph, a Bay Minette native and Novelis employee who told the members about the plant being built in Bay Minette. Novelis is the leading provider of rolled aluminum in the world. She mentioned that the building for the manufacture of this product will be one mile long. Recycling is their thing, and they will be introducing many recycling projects for the surrounding town to participate in.
Plans for the upcoming spaghetti supper, the proceeds which will go to support Pilots for Christ, and mop and broom sales at Mayfest were discussed.
