ECHS honors football players, friends

The Escambia County High School coaching staff and administration honored the Blue Devils football team with a program and banquet Monday evening, April 3.
The first honoree was actually not an athlete at all. ECHS Principal Kike Pettaway presented the Blue Devil Community MVP Award to Lillie Johnson who was a tremendous help to Pettaway and Athletic Director and Head Coach Vincent Harris when they came to ECHS. Harris presented Johnson with a dozen lilies, and Pettaway presented her with a plaque of appreciation.
Cheerleader coach Priscilla Garror gave out the spirit awards to the cheerleaders.
Coaches announced the following football team awards:
Freshman of the Year – Devin Riley
All In Award – Tae Henderson
Defensive Lineman of the Year – Christian Lee (Big Lee)
Linebacker of the Year –Exavion Bradley
Running Back of the Year – James Whatley
Defensive Back of the Year – Lebron Hooks
Wide Receiver of the Year – Lorenzo Arnold
Offensive Lineman of the Year – K.D. Arnold
Blue Devil Awards – Jamarrion Hooks, Gabriel Hooks, Elijah Thomas, Mason Huggins, Carmelo Turner, Tae Henderson
Special Teams Player of the Year – Luis Garcia
Defensive Player of the Year – Lebron Hooks
Offensive Player of the Year – Lorenzo Arnold
Most Valuable Player – Dakota DeSpain
Coach Harris presented two additional awards:
Special Award – William DeSpain
Blue Devil Community Service Award – Coach Rob (Raymond Robinson)
