Alison Kearley Benton

Alison Kearley Benton, age 46, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Heritage Hospice in Marietta, Ga. after a brief illness. She was born in Marietta. She lived in the North Atlanta area the majority of her life. She was a devoted mother and very proud of her two boys. Filled with joy, laughter and a witty disposition, she wanted to help people in all walks of life. In her recent illness, she inspired others with her remarkable optimism, kindness and brave spirit. She was a lover of animals, often adopting from shelters.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Alice McDonald.

Ms. Benton is survived by two sons, Zach Carter Benton and Robert Alan Benton, both of Woodstock, Ga.; father and step-mother, Jerry and Nicki Kearley of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Andy Kearley (Lori) of Savannah, Ga. and niece, Anna Kearley of Kernersville, N.C.

A private celebration of Alison’s life will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2022 at the Kearley Family Farm in south Alabama.

Rickie Lee Parham

Parham

Mr. Rickie Lee Parham, age 71, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022, in Pensacola, He was a lifelong resident of McDavid, Fla. He retired from construction after many years of service. He was a member of Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and worship leader.  He enjoyed wood working, painting and leather tooling. He loved going fishing, hunting and singing gospel music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. (Mary Burkett) Parham; three brothers, Marvin Parham, Dallon Parham and Malcom Parham.

Mr. Parham is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two and one-half years, Charlotte Parham of McDavid; two sons, Jason (Janice) Parham of Atmore, Ala. and Ross (Tawana) Parham of Poarch, Ala.; one brother, Dillon (Diane) Parham of Nunnelly, Tenn.; two sisters, Thelma Wiggins of Moultrie, Ga. and  Shelia Ward of McDavid; five grandchildren, Chelsea Huggins, Kade Parham, Jude Parham, Jordan Parham, Charleigh Parham; one great-grandchild, Rogan Huggins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. Randall Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Home Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Josh Long, Cory Hanks, Wayne Holland, Wayne Long, Shaw Evans, and Kainoa Gumapak.

Jacob Kevin Byrd

Mr. Jacob Kevin Byrd, age 38, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, in Atmore, Ala. He was a lifelong resident of Atmore. He enjoyed singing and dancing. He really enjoyed going fishing and crabbing. He had a vibrant personality, was always the life of any party, and never met stranger.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl (Rosie) Byrd and Jack (Velma) Amos.

Mr. Byrd  is survived by his parents, Winston (Cindy) Byrd of Atmore; one sister, Heather (Gary) Presley of Flomaton, Ala.; two nephews, Micah Presley, Jayden Presley; one niece, Kayleigh Presley; one uncle, Melvin Byrd of Atmore; one aunt, Tammy Graham of Atmore; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Ronald Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Little Rock Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 23, 2022, from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Micah Presley, Taylor Graham, Dustin Graham, Malcom Buckhault, Noah Martin, and Jayden Presley.

Honorary pallbearer will be Gary Presley.

Doris Mulder Jones

Jones

Doris Mulder Jones, age 87, of Atmore, AL passed away on December 26, 2022 in Atmore, AL.  She was born on December 2, 1935 in Elmore County, AL to James Ralph and Viola Powell Mulder.  She was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church.  Throughout her career, Doris worked for Masland Carpets, Buster’s Restaurant and Pepsi Cola Company/South Alabama Vending.  She enjoyed quilting, bowling, fishing, family and friends.   She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence D. Jones and her brother, Jesse Mulder. 

She is survived by her son, David (Brandy) Jones of Atmore, AL; her brother, Robert (Virginia) Mulder of Laurel, MS and her sisters, Thelma Baker of Atmore, AL and Louise (Larry) Hadley of Rabun, AL. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church in Atmore, AL with Bro. Josh Long officiating.  Interment will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers will be Clay Baker, Heath Baker, Bryan McGhee, Jon Hansen, Robert Mulder, Jr., and Larry Gohagan. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Hadley and Bo Brantley. 

Visitation will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church.

Edith Pennington Beans

Beans

Edith Pennington Beans, age 87, of Atmore, AL passed away on December 24, 2022 in Atmore, AL.  She was born on February 27, 1935 in Chillicothe, MO to Alize “Bill” and Elisa Graves Pennington. Edith was a member of the University Parkway Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She served on the board of Campion Academy and Bass Memorial Academy. She also was the Director of Women’s Ministry at Gulf State Seventh-Day Adventist Conference. Edith owned The Beans Store in Atmore for many years.  

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Dixie Dahl and Barbara Stocker. 

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald R. Beans; her children: Connie (Tim) Mercer of Piney Flats, TN, Cathy (Clark) McCrain of Firestone, CO, Kevin (Linda) Beans of Hopkinsville, KY, Troy (Livny) Beans of Dayton, OH and Jodi (Jim) Burrill of Orlando, FL; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bradford Schleif officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins, CO. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, AL.

Evelyn King

King

Evelyn King, age 83, of Perdido, AL passed away on December 24, 2022 in Fairhope, AL.  She was born on October 23, 1939 in Perdido, AL to Otis Malachi and Rosie Abramovich Stewart.  She is preceded in death by her parents. 

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Franklin King; her son, Roger (Judy) King of Dyas, AL; her daughter, Susan King of Perdido, AL and her brother, Glenn W. (Marianne) Stewart of Fairhope, AL. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Hadley officiating.  Interment will follow in Bryars-McGill Cemetery in Perdido, AL. 

Active pallbearers will be Trever King, Korey Biggs, Marty Hadley, Randy King, Stanley Alldredge and Danny Alldredge. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Kenneth “T-BO” Reed

Reed

Kenneth “T-BO” Reed, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 22, 2022 in Atmore, AL. He was born on June 8, 1938 to the late John William and Amy Inez Ross Reed in Brewton, AL. He retired from Monsanto and was a member of Pine Forest Assembly of God Church in Pensacola, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Pullen Reed of Atmore, AL; two children, Ron Keith (Vivian) Reed of Decatur, GA and Lisa Kay (Alan) Vaughan of Cummings, GA; five grandchildren: Kaitlyn Vaughan, Harper Reed, Rachel Reed, Erin Reed, Andrew Vaughan.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 2 PM at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Hudson and Rev. Randy Albritton officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Atmore, AL.

Active pallbearers will be Alan Vaughan, Andrew Vaughan, Randy Albritton, Ronnie Windham, Kenny Rolin and Caleb Skinner.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 1 PM until service time at 2 PM at Johnson-Quimby Funeral.
