Jesse Ray Jones, III

Mr. Jesse Ray Johns, III, age, 68, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Monday, October 31, 2022 at William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette, Ala. He was a member of St Mark Missionary Baptist Church of Brewton, Ala. He was a 1973 graduate of W.S. Neal High School. He joined the PU.S. Arty severing over ten years and received an honorable discharge. Later he worked for Brewton Iron Works until he retired. He was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church of Brewton

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Clara Peters Jones and his oldest brother, Emmitt Jones, Jr.

Mr. Jones is survived by three sisters, Geraldine Mackey, Betty Nettles and Evelyn (Anthony) Bullard, all of Brewton; aunts, Gladys Culliver of Brewton, Kathleen (Joseph) Graves and Lillie Mae Dodge, both of Mobile, Ala., Lorie Jones of New York, Loretta (Lorenzo) Jones of Montgomery, Ala.; two special nephews, Percy Travis and Briddell Jones; special niece, Paula Nettles; special friends, Vicky Jones and Rena Anderson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services were held at Hamden Ridge Cemetery Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Dr. F. B. Lett Eulogist. Interment followed at Hamden Ridge Cemetery, 1432 County Highway 17, Evergreen, Ala., 36401

Pallbearers were family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearer was Dennis Jones.

Flower bearers were family and friends.

Christian “AJ” Thames

Mr. Christian “AJ” Thames, age 32, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Barbara Thames and Hermus Conner. He attended school in Brooklyn and obtained; his GED at Penn Foster on line. He enjoyed family vacations to Florida, Alabama and Africa where he lived for nineteen months. He was always with his niece Rochelle, nephew, Kamani and bonus sister, Vanessa.  He loved animals. He enjoyed cooking and baking for himself and his mother. He definitely marched to the beat of AJ’s own drum.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hermus Conner; step-sister, Germaine Lendore; step-brother, Sheldon Lendore and his bonus sister, Vanessa Luckner-Myles.

Mr. Thames is survived by his mother, Barbara Lendore; step-father, Philbert Lendore; eight sisters, Angela Russell, Pamela Thames, Tonia Thames, Andria Samuels, Crystal Hernandez, Carrissa Lee, Penny Conner; step-sister, Michelle Lendore and his brother, Christopher Lee; host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.

The family receive friends at Caribe Funeral Home October 29, 2022 from 2 until 4 p.m.

Funeral services were held October 29, 2022 at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Caribe Funeral Home, Brooklyn with Pastor/Evangelist, Valerie Ferguson presiding. Interment was at Stallworth Cemetery, Atmore, Ala.

Betty Jean House

House

Mrs. Betty Jean House, age 81, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 in Grand Bay, Ala. She was born resided most of her life in Mobile, Ala. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She retired from J C Penny. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially gardening in both her vegetable and flower gardens. She enjoyed Alabama Football, dancing, and going to the beach. She enjoyed sitting on her back porch swinging and talking with the neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Winston and Irene Johnson Williams; husband, Charles House; two sons, Michael House and Derek House.

Mrs. House is survived by her son, Jeff (Tina) House of Mobile, Ala.; one daughter, Marlene White of Mobile; five grandchildren, David Ward, Rady Ward, Michael House, Nichole House, Shawn White, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Poplar Springs Church with Rev. Winfred Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 11, 2022 from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 a.m. at Poplar Springs Church.

Pallbearers will be Jake House, Brett House, and Shawn White.

Richard Boyette

Boyette

Mr. Richard Boyette, age 62, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Atmore to Dauphin and Florence Brittingham Boyette.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Peggy Elaine Curran, Charles Boyette and Teddy Boyette. 

Mr. Boyette is survived by his brothers, Robert Boyette of Jackson, Ala. and Daniel (Vickie) Boyette of Atmore; his sisters, Gail (Reggie) Jones of Mobile, Ala. and Renee (Ronnie) Mize of Atmore; one niece and many nephews. 

No formal services will be held.

Cynthia W. “Cindy” Raines

Mrs. Cynthia W. “Cindy” Raines, age 65, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 in Pensacola, Fla.  She was born in Mobile, Ala. to James Henry and Louellen Moses Ward.  She was a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Lou Ann Howell and Benny Howell. 

Mrs. Raines is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Joe Raines; her sons, Joseph Christopher Raines of Mobil and Ethan Aaron (Maranda) Raines of Flomaton, Ala.; her daughter, Sandra Lynn (Ronnie) Beasley of Atmore; her brothers, Lamar (Tina) Ward, Wendell (Rhonda) Ward and Mark (Tammy) Ward all of Brewton, Ala; her sister, Terri (Donnie) Anglin of Mobile and her grandchildren: Lyrik Wingate and Myles Raines. 

Graveside services were held Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Don Sanks officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. 

The family received friends Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home. 

Active pallbearers were Ethan Raines, Chris Raines, Logan Morris, Lamar Ward, Mark Ward and Joshua Manning.

Jeanelle Forte McKissack

McKissack

Mrs. Jeanelle Forte McKissack, age 86, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 in Atmore, Ala.  She was born in Robinsonville, Ala. to Grady and Lula Moye Forte. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and her home. She loved gardening and flowers of all kinds. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, H.R. “Mac” McKissack; her children, Tilda Jerkins and Eddie Jerkins; her siblings, James Forte, Thelma Gray, Maggie Burch and Douglas Forte. 

Mrs. McKissack is survived by her daughter, Theresa J. (Ted) Suttle of Canoe, Ala.; her grandchildren, Sarah (Tyler) Wilson and Rebecca (Joe) Sicard along with many nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Chaplain Cindy Still officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Ronnie Ray Whatley

Whatley

Mr. Ronnie Ray Whatley, age 49, of Perdido, Ala., passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Frisco City, Ala. to Donnie Ray, Sr. and Kathy Rew Whatley. For the past seven years he has called Perdido home.  He spent his life working shutdowns for many companies, but mechanics was his passion. He loved spending his time with family, playing with his grandchildren and doing what he loved, being a mechanic. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Thomas “Chicken” and JoAnne Rew of Grove Hill, Ala., William Whatley and Louise King of Frisco City and his brother, Donnie Ray Whatley of Excel, Ala. 

Mr. Whatley left behind the love of his life of fifteen years, Connie Whatley of Perdido; five daughters, Raelyne Whatley Williams (JR), Summer Stokes Williams (Ladd), all of Excel, Ala., Kasey Atkins (Kyle), Kelli Boatwright (Eliseo) and Kimberly Boatwright, all of Atmore, Ala.; two sons, Robert Whatley and Scott (Kimberly) Stokes, both of Excel; thirteen grandchildren, Koria Whatley, Lauren Cooper, Kannon Atkins, Isaiah Boatwright, Gabby Boatwright, Ian Choncoa, Zayne Hayden, McKynlie Hayden, Kennedi Stokes, Mason Watson, Hunter Williams, Haven Williams, Gabe Williams; a very special nephew, Dustin Whatley; extra son, Hunter Leino and two special friends and neighbors, Nathan and Miranda Stump along with two bonus grandkids, Adalynne and Ayden Mayhan. 

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Barbara Joan Clark Rixey

Ms. Barbara Joan Clark Rixey, age 72, of Davisville, Fla., passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022, at HCA Florida West Hospital after fighting colorectal and lung cancer.  She was born in Miami Beach, Fla. to the late James Tyrell and Eunice Viola Seales Clark.  She was valedictorian of 1968 graduating class at Ernest Ward High School and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Education at the University of West Florida. She volunteered many years as a Junior Girl Scout Leader and pursued a career in the medical field in Tampa, Fla. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ann Jamie Clark Bingham.

Ms. Rixey is survived by David Owen Rixey; one daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Sleczkowski; granddaughters, Alexis Sleczkowski, Amber Sleczkowski, Marie Sleczkowski, Natalie Sleczkowski, Sophia Sleczkowski; her brother, Tyrell (Rose) Clark; her sisters, Connie (Gordon) Raines and Carolyn Green; four nephews; two nieces; one grand-nephew and two grand-nieces. 

Graveside Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 at p.m. at Dry Springs Cemetery in Walnut Hill.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Charles Williams Sr.

Mr. Charles Williams, Sr. of Atmore, Ala. passed away Friday, November 11, 2022 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19. 2022 at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Faith Center Church.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 18, 2022 from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Funeral Chapel.

Brandin “Bran” Devon Jackson Jones

Mr. Brandin “Bran” Devon Jackson Jones, age 28, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022. He was born to Brian Jones and Stephanie Northern in Brewton, Ala. He was a life time member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Gospel Choir and Assisted with the Youth Choir. He was a 2013 graduate of Hillcrest High School and went on 5to Troy University where he was a member of the “Sound of the South” Marching Band.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Eva Mae Northern and Aunt Andrea Tansha Northern.

Mr. Jones is survived by his siblings, Meshia King, Amber King, Dominck Floyd, Joshua Cobb and Baile Grace; special aunt, Shirley Northern; special grandmother, Lucille Dailey and a host of relatives and close friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor, Duran K. Odoms officiating. Interment followed in Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were his male cousins.

Flower bearers were his female cousins.
