Members of American Legion Post 90 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7016 will hold a joint flag retirement at the Veterans Monument in front of Atmore City Hall, Friday, November 11, 10 a.m. Seating will be available.
Everyone is invited to witness the respectful event which includes the lowering of a “tattered” flag, a six-member flag fold, hoisting of a new flag, and the burning for interment of unserviceable flags. The ashes of all retired flags will be interred at the Old Glory Monument located in Cheaha State Park in Delta, Alabama.
Members of the community are welcome to bring unserviceable flags to the ceremony for retirement. You may choose to participate by placing your flag in the flames in a respectful manner.
