Head-on crash in Flomaton claims 3 lives

A two-vehicle, head-on collision that occurred at approximately 3:21 p.m. Sunday, November 6, claimed the lives of two Flomaton men and a Century, Fla. man.
According to Alabama State Trooper reports, Shannon P. Lucas, 48, of Flomaton was fatally injured when the 2017 Dodge 1500 pickup he was driving collided head-on with the 2017 Ford Explorer driven by Christopher P. Bell, 41, also from Flomaton.
Alfreco Lett, 50, of Century, who was a passenger in the Dodge pickup, was fatally injured as well.
Neither Lucas, Lett nor Bell was using a seat belt at the time of the crash, and all three were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers reported.
The crash occurred on U.S. 31, near the 58-mile marker, inside the Flomaton city limits. The highway’s northbound lanes remained closed for more than three hours while rescue personnel, troopers and tow truck operators performed their grim tasks.
