Atmore woman busted after trying to avoid road check

Lewis

News Staff Report

An Atmore woman was arrested August 13 and charged with felony drug possession and driving under the influence of alcohol after she reportedly tried to drive away from a Flomaton Police Department roadblock.
Publish reports indicate that 38-year-old Fenetrias Lewis pulled up to the FPD checkpoint, which was conducted from midnight through 1 a.m. at Old Atmore Road and Tulip Street in Flomaton. When officers noticed a burnt-marijuana smell coming from her car, she was told to pull to the side of the road.
Lewis reportedly drove away instead but was stopped after only a short distance.
Police found Ecstasy tabs — the possession of which is a felony in Alabama — inside the car, along with an unspecified quantity of marijuana. Lewis had also been seen throwing something out her window, and that reportedly turned out to be a baggie containing 7 grams of a substance that tested positive as cocaine.
She was charged with one count each of DUI-alcohol and attempting to elude police, along with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She was also charged with tampering with evidence for tossing the cocaine out of the car.
