Special to Atmore News

The men of American Legion Post 90 in Atmore invited the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary to join them for a Christmas lunch on December 21, at the American Legion Building.
Post Commander Dave Graham welcomed members and guests, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, and gave the invocation. He also presented the post a framed photograph of the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery.
Commander Graham then asked guest Dale Ash to come forward and presented her with a plaque which read: Special Award presented to Dale Ash for Outstanding and Dedicated Volunteer Service to Billy Glenn Rushing Post 90, Atmore, Alabama.
Of the award, Adjutant Paul Chason said, “Dale was recognized for her dedicated, untiring volunteer service to the Post. She was directly responsible for positive outcomes in various activities to include mentorship, grant writing, fund raising, and coordination of multiple site meetings that will ultimately provide benefit to not only the Post but for our community.”
Dale has been the driving force behind fund raising for the planned park in the area around the Legion Building at the corner of Church and Main Streets. Commander Graham said he hoped the weather would cooperate and construction can begin soon.
Post members, Auxiliary members, and guests enjoyed a time of fellowship as they partook of a meal consisting of fried chicken, smoked ham, baked turkey, chicken and dumplings, and an assortment of vegetables, salads, breads, and desserts.
