Man arrested for groping Walmart clerk

McGhee

News Staff Report

An Atmore man, already being sought for failure to appear in court for a review of a felony DUI charge, was arrested November 27 after he twice grabbed the private parts of a female employee of Atmore’s Walmart.
David Allen McGhee, 60, of a Riley Road address, remained in the Escambia County Detention Center under a $300,000 bond as midweek approached, charged with one count of first-degree sexual abuse in connection with the incident.
Police reports show that McGhee was at a self-checkout lane, apparently ready to pay for his purchase and leave, when he told a clerk he needed help in using his credit card.
When the woman came to the credit card reader to assist him, McGhee allegedly reached around her and grabbed her in the groin area. He then allegedly grabbed her again in the same area and told her he wanted to take her home with him.
The sexual advance was reportedly captured by store surveillance cameras, and McGhee was arrested later that day.
Although he was granted bond on the charge stemming from the Walmart incident, McGhee was reportedly on parole, allowing authorities to hold him without bond.
