Theresa Jane Messer

Ms. Theresa Jane Messer, age 47, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 in Mobile, Ala. She was born in Frost Proof, Fla. and has resided most of her life in Atmore, Ala. She enjoyed planting flowers, and attending church. She was an avid coffee drinker. She loved her dog “PeBo”, watching soap operas, shopping, and decorating her home.

She was preceded in death by father, Jack McGhee and mother, Inez Steedley Gay.

Ms. Messer is survived by her son, Terrence Messer, of Texas; one daughter, Christie (Justin) Messex, of Savannah, Ga.; her partner of twenty plus years, Gregory Boatwright, of Atmore; two brothers, Dewayne Turman, of Fla. and Michael Turman, of Ala., five sisters, Carrie McMillian and Viola Cash, both of Tenn., Angie Carnley and Debra McGhee and Lisa Sherrod, of Ga.; other relatives and. friends.

Graveside services will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 at 12 p.m. at Bowman Cemetery with Bro. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.

Stoney Winston Daw

Mr. Stoney Winston Daw, age 81, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at his Atmore, Ala. residence. He was born in Atmore and was a longtime resident. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was a former Police Chief for the Town of Flomaton. He served as pastor at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Perdido, Ala. for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Edith Daw; his wife, Shirley McGill Daw and a daughter, Teresa Camelio.

Mr. Daw is survived by two sons, Thomas Daw and Sonny Daw, both of Atmore; a sister, Doris Godwin of Molino, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kristen Camelio, Katelyn Camelio and Jonathon Daw.

A memorial service was held at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Perdido at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021.

William “Billy” Sims

Mr. William “Billy” Sims, age 81, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. He has been a lifelong resident of McDavid, Fla. He enjoyed tending to his livestock, both raising and selling them. He enjoyed setting up the miniature pony rides for several local festivals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Thomas “Buck” and Annie Lou “Booboo” Sims; wife, Dorothy Sims and daughter-in-law, Kim Sims.

Mr. Sims is survived by his four sons, Wayne (Deborah) Sims and Wes (Kelly) Sims, all of Century, Fla., Greg (Jessica) Sims, of Bratt, Fla. and Josh (Karen) Sims, of Atmore, Ala.; one daughter, Tina (Greg) Therrell, of McDavid; two brothers, Eugene (Carol) Sims, of Pace, Fla. and Ronnie Sims, of Century; twenty-two grandchildren, Travis, Zachary, Hollie, Seth, Jeremy, Haley, Dak, Jake, Kameron, Courtney, Ashton, Kelsey, Nathan, Caleb, Sallie, Will, John, Lane, Laurel, Layton, Lawyer, Landry; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Glenn Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Crary Cemetery.

The family received friends Monday, December 6, 2021, from 6 p.m. until service time on December 7, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Griffis, Travis Sims, Zachary Sims, Dak Sims, Will Eubanks, and Lane Sims.

Susie “Mickey” Johnson

Mrs. Susie “Mickey” Johnson, age 79, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 in Flomaton, Ala. She has resided most of her life in Flomaton. She loved to sew, crochet, dance, and listen to music. She was a people person and caring for others, she was an excellent care taker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jefferson and Edna Louisa Roberson Burkett; husband, Teddy Lee Johnson; one son, Teddy Lavon Johnson; two brothers, Odell “Shine” Burkett, Cyril “Skinner” Burkett and one sister, Louise Moye.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Bell, of Brewton, Ala.; three brothers, Raymond (Leola) Burkett, of La., Jim (Linda) Burkett, of Flomaton, Ala.; Doug (Anna Bell) Burkett, of Ky.; two sisters, Elaine Gorum, of La., Virginia Mason, of Tenn.; two grandchildren, Allen bell, Aaron Bell; five great-grandchildren, Callie, Ella, Clayton, Carter, Lila Bell’s, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 12 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. J. P. Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

Ella M. Bradley

Ms. Ella M. Bradley, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 in Stonebridge, Ga.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Donna Patricia Hollingsworth Godwin 

Mrs. Donna Patricia Hollingsworth Godwin, age 76, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021. She was born in Pineville, Fla. to Grady and Agnes Hollingsworth. She was a 1964 graduate of Ernest Ward High School. She relocated to Huntsville, Ala. She was a member of Bible Believers Baptist Church in Madison, Ala. She received a degree in Childhood Development and worked at Rainbow Daycare Center as an Assistant Director from 1986 until retirement. She spent her retirement traveling, enjoying her family and taking care of her granddaughter.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Dewey, Bob, Andy and Junior Hollingsworth and her sister, Doris Long.  

Mrs. Godwin is survived by her husband, James Godwin; her son, Richard Michael Godwin; her daughter, Amy (Jon) Amonette; her grandchildren, Jacob, Mady, Abigail and a new little girl to be born in April. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Andy Grant and Bro. Dale Hollingsworth officiating.  Interment will follow at Antioch Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Nokomis.

The family will receive family Friday, December 10, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. and from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. for friends at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Dorothy Marie “Dot” Nall

Mrs. Dorothy Marie “Dot” Nall, age 77, of Nokomis, Ala., passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. She was born in Davisville, Fla. to Lenard P. Albritton, Sr. and Stella Mae Lisco Albritton. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nathan Hall; her sister, Magdeline Woods and her brothers, Edward Albritton and Lenard P. Albritton, Jr. 

Mrs. Nall is survived by her son, Norman C. Lambert, Sr. of Perdido, Ala.; her sister, Eunice Williams of Nokomis and her grandson, Norman C. Lambert, Jr. 

Funeral services were held Friday, November 26, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Bro. Bubba Rolin officiating. Interment followed at Sardis Primitive Baptist Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers were Ronnie Coleman, Audie Coleman, Tim Albritton, Olan Albritton, John Donaldson and John Lambert.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Woods, Zack Coleman, and Kyle Gunn.

The family received friends Friday, November 26, 2021 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Raymond L. Bolden (Ray)

Mr. Raymond L. Bolden (Ray) age 90, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, November 18, 2O21.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church on Main Street in Atmore. Visitation with the family will be at 10 a.m. in the church hall, and the Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. in the church with a reception immediately following in the church hall. ln lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
