Eugene Lacy Wheeler II

Mr. Eugene Lacy Wheeler II, age 38, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021. He was born in Bratt, Fla. He was a 2001 graduate of Northview High School and Bishop State Community in 2014. He worked as an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician at BASF in McIntosh, Ala. His favorite activities were hunting, fishing, family picnics, and spending time with his sons on the farm.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas Henry and Lola Peebles; his grandfather, Eugene Lacy Wheeler, and younger brother, Shawn Adam Wheeler.

Mr. Wheeler is survived by his wife of eight years, Anna Juck Wheeler; sons, Thomas Michael Wheeler, age five and Dustin Eugene Wheeler, age two; parents, Tony and Becky Wheeler, relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.
Pallbearers will be Robert Peebles, Derick Peebles, Jeremy Lisenby, Brandon Smith, Chantz Ziglar, Tyler Bozeman, and Erik Kirby.

Gerald D. McBride 

McBride

Mr. Gerald D. McBride, age 71, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Walnut Hill. He was born to the late Bill Douglas and Lula O. Smith McBride. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church and served in law enforcement, but was a wielder by trade.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bobby Taylor and Carolyn Mock; his first wife, Linda McBride.

Mr. McBride is survived by his wife, Gorma Barley McBride of Walnut Hill; one son, Shawn (Carleen) McBride of Atmore, Ala.; Sandra McBride of Bay Minette, Ala. and his sister, Patricia (Feldman) Frymire of Atmore; five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Walnut Hill Baptist Church building fund.

Facial masks and the use of social distancing are optional but is recommended by the family due to the current health care crisis

August Mohr Pace Jr,

Mr. August Mohr Pace Jr, age 73, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a native of Apalachicola, Fla., but has lived most of his life in Century, Fla. He was employed with Campbell Sand and Gravel as a Foreman for forty-four years. He valued the time he had to spend with his family, grandchildren, and friends. He loved hunting and fishing. He liked helping and taking care of people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August Mohr and Juanita Pace, Sr.; two sons, Joseph Lavimoniere and Michael Lavimoniere; one grandson, Joshua Lavimoniere; one sister, Betty Messer, two brothers, Charles Pace, Johnny Pace, and other relatives.

Mr. Pace is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Mary Sells, of Century; two sons, Todd (Lisa) Pace, of Pensacola; Richard Lavimoniere, of Chagrin Falls, OH; one daughter, Alva Enfinger, of Century; one daughter-in-law, Rachael Lavimoniere, of Century; two brothers, Reggie Pace, of Foley, Ala.; Gaston (Ann) Pace, of Perkinston, Miss.; two sisters, Patricia (David) Ventry, of Tallahassee, Fla.; Linda Richardson, of Panama City, Fla.; three grandchildren, Ashlyn Robinson, Miranda Enfinger, Chandler Enfinger; five great- grandchildren, Conner, Cain, Cason, Coen, Adelynn; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Waylon Stuckey officiating. Burial will follow at McCurdy Cemetery.

Jack Green

Mr. Jack Green, age 73, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Brewton, Ala. He was a native of LaBelle, Fla. and resided most of his life in Flomaton, Ala. He retired as a finish operator and sat on the executive union board for Local 653. He enjoyed time spent with his union buddies. Watching grandchildren and spending time with family and fishing with his wife were highlights is his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Lenora Green; grandparents,  Jack Alderman and Jessie Estelena  Green; one brother; four sisters and father-in-law, Douglas Mack Evans..

Mr. Green is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Gloria, of Flomaton, Ala.; one son, Dylan Lee (Katherine) Green, of Mobile, Ala.; one daughter, Lacee Dalton (James) Reed, of Flomaton; two brothers, Mike (Jeannie) Green, of Flomaton and Bruce Green, of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Kaelynn, Anna-Claire, Macee, Vivian “Gracie”, Lillee, Reagan, Clay, Savannah; one nephew, Dillon, other relatives, and friends.  

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at 3:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Eric Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Rigby Cemetery.

Mrs. Jewel Amerson, age 85, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Katy, Texas.

Merle Harris Tolin

Mrs. Merle Harris Tolin, age 76, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, September 17, 2021. She was born to Fletcher Alexander and Lula Dale Davis Harris. 

She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Herman E. Tolin; her children, Sheila Marie Tolin and Angie Marie Tolin and her siblings, Imogene Harris Brown and Robert Harris. 

Mrs. Tolin is survived by her sons, Herman Roy Tolin and James Floyd (Tammy) Tolin, all of Atmore; her grandson, James Benjamin “Bean” Tolin of Atmore; her siblings, Elbert Harris of Elberta, Ala., Will Harris, Charles Harris, Ronald Lee Harris and Larry (Patricia) Harris, all of Goodway, Ala., Ed (Patricia) Harris and James (Linda) Harris of Frisco City, Ala., Clyde (Lindy) Harris of Monroeville, Ala., Annie Harris and Mary Ann (Artie) Tillman, all of Fairhope, Ala., along with many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Bro. Clarence Rolin officiating.  Interment will follow at Mineola Cemetery in Mineola, Ala.

Linda W. Hudson

Mrs. Linda W. Hudson, age 60, of Oak Grove, Fla. passed away, Friday, September 17, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla.  She was born in Fort Belvoir, Va. to the late Donald and Florence Stefani Wright.  She was a member of Cantonment Baptist Church and a homemaker who was dedicated to taking care of her family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Wright. 

Mrs. Hudson is survived by her husband, Paul Hudson of Oak Grove, Fla; her son, Ryan Hudson of Oak Grove; her daughter, Kim (James) Brown of Oak Grove; her brother, Larry (Mary Jean) Wright of Pensacola, Fla; her grandchildren, Abby Brown and AJ Brown and her sister-in–law, Merry Wright. 

Graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Will Stone officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Luther Jackson of Brewton, Ala., passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021 at his home.

Ms. Toni Brown, age 56, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

Sarah Louise Nelson-Mobley

Mrs. Sarah Louise Nelson-Mobley, age 57, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Friday, September 3, 2021. She was born to the late Chester Hart and Nancy Louise Nelson in the Boykin Community. She was a life-long member of Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She was a 1983 graduate of W.S. Neal High School and attended Jefferson Davis Jr. College. She loved her family and would always call and check on everybody and wanted to be the first to tell any new gossip or just to tell you she loved you.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Williams and Clarence Nelson and one sister Cillar Davis.

Mrs. Nelson-Mobley is survived by her estranged husband, Floyd Mobley; son, Coty Antoine Rashad Nelson; four sisters, Dorothy (Willie James) Jackson, Sandra Floyd, Yolanda Nelson, all of Brewton and Josephine Nelson- Norman of Atmore, Ala.; three brothers, Louis Nelson, Chester Nelson, Jr., both of Brewton and Freddie Brown on Atmore; devoted friend and “Phone Buddy”, Marcus Jones; close companion puppy, Pete and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Greater Mt. Calvary Church Cemetery with Rev. Thomas W. Broughton officiating Pastor.

Pallbearers were nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Sanathan Untrez Wiggins, age 26, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He was born to Diana Sandra Wiggins and Ernest Powell.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; grandfather, Manford Wiggins.

Mr. Wiggins is survived by his step-father, Patrick L. Finley, step-mother, Patricia Dortch Powell; brothers, Ray Charles (Tyesha) Wiggins, all of Atmore; grandmother, Lillie Ruth Wiggins; aunts, Margaret (Thaddeus) Pace, Carrie (Thomas) Spencer, Juanita Wiggins and Gwendolyn Boston, all of Atmore; uncles, Michael (Pamela) Wiggins, Steve (Patricia) Wiggins and Kelvin Wiggins, all of Atmore; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services were held Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Elder Claude Wiggins, officiating.

Pallbearers were Mike Wiggins, Joey Wiggins, Kevin Wiggins, Steve Wiggins, Shedrick Walker and Desmond Kemp.

Mrs. Francis Elaine (Smith) Rodgers, age 52, of Atmore, Ala., passed away peacefully Monday, September 20, 2021 due to complications from Covid at Atmore Community Hospital surrounded by her husband and sons. She was born in Butler Springs, Ala. to the late James and Kathryn Smith. Last place of employment for Elaine was as a caregiver at The Meadows. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Donnie Lane (Kennedy) Rodgers; her brother, Jimmy Smith and one child. 

Mrs. Rodgers is survived by her husband, Kenneth Rodgers; her two sons, Jonathan (Danielle) Rodgers and Joshua Rodgers; her four grandchildren, Ryver, Blakeleigh, Jaxon and Hayden; her father-in-law, Herman Rodgers; three sisters, Peggy (Hill) Wood, Diane, Pat (Milton) Luckie; one sister through love, Ellen (Smith) Garrett; one brother-in-law, Richard (Sandy) Rodgers; many nieces and nephews and many more great and great-great nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Atmore.  Thursday, September 23, 2021 there will be a viewing at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at Antioch East Baptist Church in Greenville, Ala.

La’Craig Deyonshay Brown

Mr. La’Craig Deyonshay Brown, age 25, of Atmore, Ala., passed away unexpectedly in Mobile, County, Ala. He is a native of Atmore and a 2014 graduate of Escambia County High School.

He was one of the youngest entrepreneurs in Atmore thus being as “MSGPatRiley”. His business was named HoodKickz. He was a member of Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Angela Renee Johnson and one aunt, Maresse (Bobby) Jones.

Mr. Brown is survived by his parents, Craig and Kia Brown of Atmore; four children, Kaylee Brown, Kristyn Barron, Tatteri Peoples, and Kashton Brown; his loving fiancé, Amber Wells; sister, Ja’Sonica Barron; bonus sisters, Ysuna Staples, Deontra Henderson, and Cassity Dailey; brothers, Desmond Johnson, TyJustine Brown, Malik Brown, Cortez Barron, Craig Brown, Jr., and Devion Simmons; his grandparents, Randy, Sr. and Annette Johnson, Joann Brown and Larry (Diane) Lee; special aunts, Tamaro (Kevin) Silar, D’tecia Johnson, Dakisaj Henderson, TaNasha (Jararus) Walker, Jalay Brown, Monique Lee, Latisha Finklea; special great aunts, Brettschneider (Farrell) Staples, Teresa Phillips, and Shan (Vaughn) Brown; uncles, Edmond (Nicole) Lee, Randy Johnson, Jr., Timothy Finklea, Willie Johnson, DeMarcus Johnson, Katreal Johnson, Desmond Johnson, Derrick Riley, and Kendrick Henderson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
