Chamber leadership changes

News Staff Report

Without fanfare or much public notice, the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s leadership changed last week.
This notice from the Chamber to members was sent out on email July 9:
“The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted in their recent board meeting for Anna Norton to serve as the Interim Executive Director effective immediately. Anna has previously served as the Chamber’s Executive Assistant. The Board of Directors feel confident in Anna’s ability to transition and serve in this interim role well. Anna can be reached at 251-368-3305 or director@atmorechamber.com. The Board of Directors are carefully reviewing future plans during this transitional period.
“The Chamber of Commerce appreciates your support and will continue to serve our Trustees, Members, and Community with dedication and professionalism.”
In the notice, no mention was made of Emily Wilson who had been serving as executive director since January 2018.
When asked if she had a comment on the change, Emilee Waters, president of the Chamber Board of Directors, said Monday, “The Executive Board and Board of Directors appreciate Emily’s service and the successes she brought to the Chamber during her time as Executive Director. We wish her the best in her future endeavor.”
