Perdido School holds spelling bee
Special to Atmore News The Perdido School 2018-19 Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, January 9. All the participants did a fantastic job representing their grade level in the school spelling bee. After 35 rounds, fifth-grader Carley New was declared the champion and Dessie James was first runner-up. Carley will represent Perdido School in the county spelling bee Tuesday, February 5, in Loxley.

Former Atmore residents Scottie Rodgers and Woody McCorvey Jr. ran into each other at the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship Game Media Day festivities in San Jose, Calif. Rodgers is Associate Commissioner, Strategic Communications at the Sun Belt Conference office in New Orleans, and McCorvey is Associate Director of Athletics for Football Administration at Clemson.
