Atmore Christian School’s Rams improved their season record to 4-3 after blowing past the Colts of Walker Springs Road Baptist Academy, 72-39, last Thursday, December 5.
Four Rams players scored in double figures. Gage Gades led the way with 16 points. Jadon Torres scored 11, and Emmett Battles and Drew Shelly scored 10 each.
Caeden Battles added nine points, Reese White registered seven, Titus Dean had five and Josiah Pimperl scored four.
At the end of the first period, ACS held a commanding 26-8 lead, and by the end of the half, the Rams held a 52-13 advantage.
Walker Spring finally showed a glimmer of life during the second half but was unable to hold off the ACS charge.
“I am proud of my guys,” ACS head coach Tim Battles said. “I told them at the half to try to be perfect and keep doing what we were doing. We have some key games coming up, and this was a chance to improve going into the future. We need to rebound better on the defensive end and we need to hit the shots that we need to make.”
Battles also stressed that control of the basketball is playing a huge key in the Rams’ offense.
The Rams junior varsity team also found victory against Walker Springs, defeating the Colts 38-28.
Dexter Smoker scored 19 points for the Junior Rams. Paxton Hobbs added nine points on three three-pointers, while Josiah Pimperl and Titus Dean added four points each.
The Rams will travel to Pensacola this Thursday, December 12 to face Aletheia Christian Academy.
