We Are Family Home Care Services would like for you to participate in GivingTuesday – not just for their sake, but for the dozens of nonprofits which could benefit.
Thursday, November 14, We Are Family founder Patricia Cross and Adrian Frye hosted a luncheon to tell people about the services provided by We Are Family but also to encourage people to give during GivingTuesday, December 3.
We Are Family Home Care is a not-for-profit 501c3 Christian in-home care agency caring for the elderly, disabled and families in need. Cross noted that 13 percent of Atmore residents are senior citizens. Six percent of Atmore’s senior citizens live below the poverty level, and 33 percent of Atmore’ senior citizens live alone. We Are Family fills the void for many senior families in this area.
Cross stressed that her agency as well as other non-profits serve the community and could benefit greatly if people participate in GivingTuesday.
In the case of We Are Family, the agency is eligible to receive up to $5,000 of a $50,000 matching challenge exclusively at GIVE65.org on December 3. Home Instead Senior Care Foundation sponsors GIVE65 devoted to helping nonprofits raise funds online for programs and services that benefit senior citizens.
Mayor Jim Staff is issuing a proclamation on that day:
WHEREAS, GivingTuesday was established as a national day of giving on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving: and
WHEREAS, GivingTuesday is a celebration of philanthropy and volunteerism where people give whatever they are able to give; and
WHEREAS, GivingTuesday is a day where citizens work together to share commitments, rally for favorite causes, build stronger community, and think about other people: and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper on GivingTuesday and on every day to recognize the tremendous impact of philanthropy, volunteerism, and community service in the City of Atmore; and
WHEREAS, GivingTuesday is an opportunity to encourage citizens to serve others throughout the Christmas Season and during other times of the year.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MAYOR JIM STAFF, Mayor of the City of Atmore Alabama, do hereby proclaim December 3. 2019 as GivingTuesday in the City of Atmore, Alabama, and encourage all citizens to join together to give back to the community in any way that is personally meaningful.
