Northview High used its potent ground attack to make a strong statement by rolling past the Chipley High Tigers 52-14 last Friday, October 25.
NHS’s Jayden Jackson scored four times during the contest and quarterback Ben Wilson complimented with two touchdowns.
Individual stats were not made available by Tuesday’s press deadline.
The Chiefs made quick work of the Tigers, scoring twice within the first 10 minutes, and despite a CHS touchdown, led 19-7 at the end of one quarter.
The visiting team continued the scoring streak during the second quarter and retired for the half with a 39-14 lead.
Northview scored once during the third quarter and finished off the Tigers during the last five minutes of the fourth quarter.
With NHS’s victory over Chipley and Vernon’s 42-13 loss to Blountstown, the most likely scenario for playoffs will see the Chiefs move into the number two slot and receive a BYE during the first round of the playoffs.
The FHSAA replaced its old playoff formula that based points upon how well opponents did, with a new Rating Percentage Index (RPI) formula that calculates a team’s winning percentage (which counts for 35 percent of the RPI), its opponents’ winning percentage (35 percent) and winning percentage of each opponent’s opponent.
Based on this formula the Chiefs will now have a chance to move into the number-two slot in standings when the updated RPI rankings are released by the FHSAA later this week.
The Chiefs will travel to Jay High this Friday, November 1, to wrap up regular season play.
