BOE buys new buses

The Escambia County Board of Education met in special session Friday, October 18.
The board awarded a bid to Ward International Trucks in the amount of $78,735 for new buses.
With the bid awarded, the board voted to purchase at least two passenger regular school buses from Ward at a cost of $78,735 each, using Fleet Renewal funds for FY2020.
In other business, the board received an update from attorney Broox Garrett on legal matters regarding the W.S. Neal High School project.
The board approved personnel items as follows.
Employment
1. LeAnn Pepper, special education teacher, Escambia County Middle School, effective October 7, 2019 (replacing Melissa Daniel)
2. Shemika Barnes, instructional teacher aide, Escambia County Middle School, effective October 7, 2019 (replacing Dustin Kennedy)
3. Suzette Barron, 7-hour custodian, Rachel Patterson Elementary School, effective October 21, 2019 (replacing Tera Coon)
Suspension
1. 10-day suspension without pay of an employee
