Rev JEan Spikes

Bethel United Methodist Church is holding homecoming services August 25 and the congregation is pleased to have the Rev. Jean Spikes bringing the message.
If you talk with most women in the clergy in the United Methodist Church, they’ll tell you whose shoulders they stand on – Rev. Jean Spikes’ shoulders.
She was the first female ordained minister in the Methodist denomination and has been preaching well over 60 years.
During that time, she has pastored many churches in this area and in Mobile. She was often asked to preach revivals and homecomings, so her messages went far beyond her own churches.
A few years ago, Rev. Spikes moved from Mobile to Hartford, Ala., so she’s not in this area as much as she used to be.
You’re invited to take advantage of this opportunity to hear Rev. Spikes preach again. Also, Mickey Brown and Alice Spinks will provide special music.
Homecoming starts at 10:30 a.m., with dinner right after the service.
The church is located at 5191 Highway 21.
If you attended Bethel in the past, you have a special invitation to come home.
