Each year, VFW Post 7016 and American Legion Post 90 host a program to honor those who died in service to their country. This year, the program will be held Monday, May 27, Memorial Day, 9 a.m., at the Veterans Monument in front of Atmore City Hall.
The keynote speaker is Major Valisa Hadley of Atmore, Alabama Army National Guard.
The most solemn portion of the ceremony involves placing the wreath at the monument and the Memorial Roll Call, followed by the ringing of the bell for each one fallen. The gun salute is followed by Taps.
In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved into the city hall auditorium.
Seating is not provided, so you’ll want to bring a lawn chair.
