Dash4Cash block party March 29

News Staff Report

Residents of Atmore and the surrounding area are urged to join Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce, on-air personalities from a Brewton-based digital streaming service and city of Atmore officials at a Dash4Cash 2019 Block Party, to be held Friday, March 29, in downtown Atmore.
Celebration of the city’s greater presence in what is being billed as “the Southeast’s craziest scavenger hunt” will take place along Ridgeley Street and will start at 6 p.m.
The public is invited to share free hamburgers, hot dogs and Pepsi products — as long as they last — that will be provided by Walmart, and to enjoy games sponsored in part by United Bank, as well as music and fellowship. The Kona Ice trailer will also be on hand to sell frozen treats.
The inaugural Dash4Cash was held last year. It is the brainchild of DJ & KJ, on-air personalities for the Facebook-based streaming service. To stay up to date on contest details, listeners must tune in to Facebook.com/groups/drivetime as the scavenger hunt continues.
The contest involves the hiding of several cash prizes and a number of individual non-cash prizes, along with the sporadic dissemination of clues as to the location of the prizes. It became an instant hit locally and reportedly generated a significant economic stimulus for area businesses and communities.
The dee-jay duo will be on hand for a live show during the block party, at which one of the early clues will be provided and more details will be revealed.
“This community block party will be a great way for Atmore to celebrate,” said Emily Wilson, executive director of the local Chamber. “We want a huge crowd to help spread the word, so be sure to invite your friends and come on out prepared to have a good time.”
