Margery Gaynelle Newton

Margery Gaynelle Newton, age 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 5, 2019. She was born in Jackson, Miss. to the late Margery Whitwer Granberry and Rev. Seth Granberry. She had resided in Choctaw Beach, Fla. for the last eleven year. She attended Asbury University in Wilmore, Ky.

Mrs. Newton is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Dr. Doug Newton; brother and sister-in-law Seth and Sally Granberry; son, Allen and wife, Stephanie Newton; daughter, Michelle and son-in-law, Mark Murray; grandchildren: Christopher Murray, his wife Bridget Murray, Riley, Sarah Kate, and David Newton and great-grandchildren, Emerson and Harper.

In Lieu of flowers the family request that any memorials be given to Choctaw Beach UMC.

A service of Remembrance and Celebration was held Friday, March 8, 2019 at Crosspoint United Methodist Church, Niceville, Fla.

The family received friends Friday, March 8, 2019 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.

O’Neal Johnson

Mr. O’Neal Johnson, age 95, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at West Florida Hospital, Pensacola, Fla. He was born to the late Charlie and Viola Johnson in Buena Vista, Ala. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist church in Freemanville, Ala. He was employed with Monsanto in Pensacola, Fla. for thirty-two years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dorothy Louise Frye; brothers, Willie Clyde Johnson, Robert Lee Johnson, Peter Johnson, Deloyd Johnson; four sisters, Ollie Mae Abram, Minnie Jones, Lucille Barnes, Helen Brown, Mary Johnson Reynolds; brother-in-law, Charles Johnson; son-in-law, Rayvan Frye, Jr.; grandchildren, Rayvan Frye and Donald Johnson, Jr.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his children, Carlie Johnson, Donald (Marion) Johnson and Sherry Johnson, all of Atmore, James (Brenda) Johnson, Johnny Mack Johnson, all of Los Angeles, Calif., Robert Vincent (Mary Jo) Johnson of Detroit, Mich., Mellon Johnson Isom (Mitch) of Mobile, Ala.; three brothers, Woodrow (Elizabeth) Johnson of Chicago, Ill., Dewey Johnson of Jackson and Jesse (Sandra) Johnson of Los Angeles; devoted sister-in-law, Viola Johnson of Atmore; devoted brother-in-law, Hoover Brown of Atmore; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; extended family, Patricia Johnson, Tameka Johnson, Rodney Johnson, Randy Johnson, James Johnson, Alvin Johnson, Greg Johnson, Reggie Johnson and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Bethany Seventh Day Adventist with Dr. Dejuan Knight officiating. Interment followed at Stallworth Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and nephews.

Flower bearers were his grand-daughters and nieces.

Lowell Stephen “Gingerboy” McGill, Sr.

Mr. Lowell Stephen “Gingerboy” McGill, Sr., age 84, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 in Atmore, Ala. He was a native of Perdido, Ala. and had resided in Atmore for the past sixty-two years. He worked at WATM as a D.J.; worked for FEMA; was the voice of Atmore Blue Devils; taught school at Bratt, Century, Fla. and McCullough where he served as principal at

McCullough; founder of Tri City Ledger and was a writer for Atmore Advance. His weekly ending quote was, “It always whispers to me those days of long ago”. He loved old cowboy pictures, big bands, coached Little League Baseball and supported his sons in their ball playing. He was a member of Brook’s Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reese and Ruth McGill.

Mr. McGill is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Ouida Troutman McGill of Atmore; three sons, Lowell Stephen “Steve” (Janet) McGill, Jr., Mark (Suzanne) McGill and Bryan Wade (Farrah) McGill, all of Atmore; three sisters, Glennes McGill Hadley of Perdido, Patricia “Princess” (Dale) Cooper of Atmore and Diane McGill Weaver of Silverhill, Ala.; six grandchildren, Whitney Maholovich, Jordan Jones, Amanda Strawbridge, Haden McGill, Rease McGill and Wade McGill and four great-grandchildren, Grady Jones, Will Strawbridge, Corbin Strawbridge and Thatcher McGill.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. James Boyd officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family received friends Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were Brandon Strawbridge, Haden McGill, Jacob Maholovich, Lewis Jones, Ray Chasez and Marion Cooper.

Honorary pallbearers were Aubrey Teal, Hugh Long, Ellie Bailey, Wesley Hughes, Forest Jones and the VFW.

Luke Haynie

Mr. Luke Haynie, age 83, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Atmore. He was born in Eclectic, Ala. to the late Lehman and LaRue Ward Haynie. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore and was a retired prison guard from Fountain Correctional Facility. He was a graduate of Troy State University.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Levice Marie Haynie and two sisters.

Mr. Haynie is survived by his children, Mia Evatt (Jason Stoutamire) of Atmore and Tya (David) Hotelling of S. C.; two grandchildren, Letah (Nathan) Bishop and Dorian Stoutamire and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 3 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Autumn Marie Hasting

Autumn Marie Hasting, age 5 of Perdido, Ala., passed away March 9, 2019 in Perdido. She was born in Bay Minette, Ala. to Nicholas Rolin and Taylor Hasting.

She was preceded in death by her father, Nicholas Rolin; her paw-paw, Danny Rolin; great-grandparents, Charles Rolin, Ronnie and Sybil Fiddler, Carlis and Beulah Johnson.

Autumn is survived by her mother, Taylor Hasting; grandparents, Pat Rolin (John Zachary Barlow), Diannia Hasting and Lamar Hasting (Melissa Lowery); great-grandparents, Betty and Jerry Hasting, Betty Rolin and Sharron Alvarez; uncles, aunts and host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Fretwell Tabernacle Church with Sister Helen Stewart, Bro. Joe Welch and Bro. Roy Wintt officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Zack Barlow, Jordan Hasting, Hunter Johnson, John Taylor Johnson, Logan Ferrell and Billy Mills.

Angelia Irene Hadley

Mrs. Angelia Irene Hadley, age 47, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 in Mobile, Ala. She was a native of Atmore, Ala. and had resided in Perdido, Ala. most of her life. She retired from Advanced Auto Parts with twenty years of service. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Wayne Hadley and Mary Aline Robinson and brother, Robert Wayne Hadley, Jr.

Mrs. Hadley is survived by her husband of three years, Janik Soto of Bay Minette; one son, Khrystofer Robbyn Wallace of Bay Minette; two brothers, Dennis Wayne Hadley of Robertsdale, Ala. and Carl Wayne Hadley of Covington, Ga.; one sister, Mary Daw of Atmore; two grandchildren, Tek Tonstill and Legacy Palmer; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Lister officiating. Burial will follow at Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

Inell L. Stevenson

Ms. Inell L. Stevenson, age 75, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at her residence. She was a native of Bay Minette and attended Vaughan and Douglasville Schools.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Stevenson and her parents, Bennie and Laverda Williams.

Ms. Stevenson is survived by two sons, Anthony Stevenson of Perdido, Ala. and Reginald Stevenson of Huntsville, Ala.; one sister, Annie Bonnett of Latham, Ala.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 6 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel, 83 Westbrook Lane-Atmore, Ala. (Longmire – Jones Memorial Chapel).

Sadie Mae Crook

Ms. Sadie Mae Crook, age 68, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at Oakwood – North Baldwin Nursing Care Center in Bay Minette. She was a native of Baldwin County and attended Douglasville School in Bay Minette. She was a member of New Jerusalem Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bay Minette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Lee Crook; one daughter, Detra Faye Crook, and her parents, George, Jr. and Annie Adams.

Ms. Crook is survived by four daughters, Daphne Crook, Gloria Crook, Yvonne Crook, and Ashley Crook, all of Bay Minette; three sons, Troy Crook and Donta Crook, both of Bay Minette and Willard Crook of Greenville, Ala.; two sisters, Georgia Mae Mims of Bay Minette and Tiny Adams of New York; one brother, Louis Adams of Greenville; twenty-five grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem Pentecostal Holiness Church with Bishop Charles Johnson, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mutual Aid Cemetery, Bay Minette.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at the church.

Mr. David Ephraim, age 79, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, March 11, 2019 at his residence.

John Henry Marshall 

 

Mr. John Henry Marshall, age 72, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, March 1, 2019. He was born to the late Adolf and Ester Marshall in Atmore. He was a proud graduate of Escambia County Training School and served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifelong member of the House of God which is the Church of the Living God. He was employed with Monsanto for more than thirty years. He enjoyed football and basketball games

Mr. Marshall is survived by his wife of almost fifty years, Gloria Abner Marshall of Atmore; daughters, Shannon (Willie) Lee and India Marshall; sons, Jamil (Kandace) Marshall, Kyler Marshall and Darrel Marshall; sisters, Mary A. Marshall, Maxine Marshall and Deborah (Cheryl) Marshall; brothers, Eugene (Geraldine) Marshall, Anthony (Magaline) Marshall and Kevin Marshall; one loving and special aunt, Katie Lambert; grandchildren, Terrance, Shania, Natoshia, Tavion, Kennedy, Omari, Trey, Nigeria, Exavion and Jakeria; great-grandchildren, Omari, Trey/Trent (twins) and Ace; brothers and sisters-in-law, McNair (JoAnn) Ramsey, Laura Pettway, Wiley)Shirley) Abner, John Abner, Rev. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at noon at The House of God with Trial Elder Shirley Dean, Pastor; Elder Jeanette Lott, eulogist and Bernard Bryant, Director of Order. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and nephews.

Leola P. Walker

Mrs. Leola P. Walker, age 76, of Castleberry, Ala., passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019. She was born in Castleberry to the late Jessie (Maggie) Powell.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elaine; six brothers and four sisters; husband, Willie James Walker.

Mrs. Walker is survived by Sherry (John) Dixon, Harry Walker, all of Brewton, Ala., Janice (Rev. Stanley Stallworth, Willie Neal Walker and David (Debra) Walker, all of Evergreen, Ala., Lawrence (Crystal) Walker of Fountain, Colo; one adopted son, Thomas Powell of Huntsville, Ala.; two God-children, Isadore Holiday and Jacqueline Finn; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Laura (Richard) Woods of Castleberry, Melissa Finn of Dallas, Texas, Evelyn Powell of Huntsville; brothers, David (Yolanda) Powell and Donald Powell, all of Castleberry, Jimmy (Delphine) Powell of Huntsville and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 8, 2019 at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Castleberry with Rev. Duran Odoms, Pastor officiating. Interment followed in Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her nephews and grandchildren.

Michael Tyrone Stallworth

Mr. Michael Tyrone Stallworth, age 57, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019. He was born in Atmore to Alfred and Placeda Harris Stallworth. He was a 1979 graduate of Escambia County High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Alfred Lee York, Joseph Boggan, William “Train” McWilliam and Lawrence Stallworth.

Mr. Stallworth is survived by his siblings, Bobby Frank Stallworth of San Francisco, Calif., Sharon Diane Stallworth of Atmore, Debra Ann Stallworth of Atlanta, Ga/ and Wanda Stallworth of Mobile, Ala.; special nieces, Yumisamoa, Yvette, Sewonya, Illya, Analisha, Angela Knight and Augustine Knight, all of Pensacola, Fla.; close friend, Michael Young and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
